If Jameis does well you’re paying him in 2 years or less. The money does not work

I think considering his overall career trajectory I don't think he'd be a mega deal guy, even if he is our QB of the future. There could be some wiggle room upcoming to the cap if a guy like Cam Jordan takes a lesser deal (or retires). Plus we can restructure Kamara.

The new TV rights deal in the next few years is going to boost the cap up as well.

That's 2 years from now though. If you have Thomas and metcalf along with #16 to get a tackle, you could have a dynamic offense for 2 years

Here's the crazy thing. He doesn't need to be a mega deal guy to insist on big money if it turns out he becomes the guy. Top 6 QB contracts have an average yearly hit of $40M per year. Then, you need to factor in Murray, Burrow, Herbert, and others I can't think of right now all have new deals coming in the next 1-2 years. So, that $40M a year could easily be a middle of the pack deal when Winston comes up for a new contract

Pass. He’s gonna cost a lot after next year. I’d rather gamble on a first round WR at 19 who will be cheap for 5 years, especially in this current WR market.

I would love to see this trade happen

Why would you want to give up a first round pick for a guy in his final year that is going to command a huge contract?

Try this:

Metcalf IS your first round pick. At least you know what you’re getting

Try this:

If you are going to pay Metcalf, you can get him for no compensation at all next year.

If you can’t wait til next year, then the market is much less than a first.

Finally, with respect to your analogy, first round picks would have almost no value if you only could sign them for 1 year.

50 million in cap on 2 wr's.
Nah we will never keep who ever us behind center upright long enough to get the ball down field.

And he’s going to cost you. Olave on a rookie deal could be a lot more valuable

I understand what you're saying and mean but neither you or me are paying those contracts, Gayle Benson is and she has an employee named Loomis who is paid to do that

If Kirk freakin Cousins can get Thielen and JJets over 1k and 10 tds in the same season in a run heavy offense, it's shouldn't be a problem getting DK and MT the touches needed to keep them both satisfied.

Dumb. Use that 1st round pick on a WR. I’m not giving Metcalf $25+ million per year.

Why not? I'm sure Gayle Benson and Loomis would love for a fan to pay a huge contract or two lol

Deal: Saints get WR DK Metcalf; Seahawks get 19th pick, 120th pick, 2023 second-round pick

DK Metcalf has never been Top 10 in yards in his career. Why would we give up the future for a #2 WR?

After Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill were traded and landed top-of-the-market deals, the trickle-down effect was massive for other young receiving stars

Adams, Hill and Metcalf. One of these isn't like the others.
