Lol. Where the hell do you get these numbers from ?

Exactly. He’s under contract already. I wouldn’t do anything unless he takes a contract as a highly paid #2 receiver.
He’ll hold out so under contract doesn’t mean much. And you’re for the $29mn Tee Higgins type deal. Risky

Mickey will do what he has done in the past. Add free agents to areas of need be it starters or competition and draft the best talent available at each spot in the draft regardless of position or need.
He has said as much. They will not go into the draft feeling like they must pick a certain player or fill a certain hole. They want the best players regardless of position.

I seriously doubt he gets paid 13 million a year after not starting a single game last year. He was a backup and healthy. That would be unprecedented.

You have a crystal ball and know this? He admitted he almost quit last year. He will have to prove he can stay healthy another year. If he took somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 a year, I’d go for that. I’m sure he wants more. He has to play to get the contract.

frick what OP said. We are going to be FA players, especially on the offensive line. I expect us to pay top dollar for a Guard and I am 100% fine with it. You don't wind up with your franchise QB and trot him out next year to get destroyed on the interior.

Mickey is MO is to add pieces in free agency so that we’re not forced to draft position. It’s one of the reasons why we end up with head scratcher “ best player available” picks rather than just saying that we need a cornerback and drafting one early early, for example. I’d love a splashy IOL free agent so our first few picks can go defense or offensive playmaker

I’ll take the opposite of whatever this dude says.

quote:While some measurables are near insurmountable in the NFL, others get harped on far too much and people ignore production and some players' force of will.
I like the prototypical size guys though
Going off of just measurables is exactly why Jarvis Jones was a HUGE bust, and I tried to tell everyone that ahead of time that the guy was just coasting off of his athleticism and having high caliber teammates around him. He had no motor and you could see all the plays he would take off during a game, especially in the run game. Dude was Charmin soft. I'm just glad that was one we actually managed to avoid.
But if a guy does not have the high end measurables he does need to have top notch technique, otherwise you get a guy like Derek Barnett. I was really high on him because he had such a high motor and never took plays off, but his technique was poor and my hope was that you could coach him up enough to get the most out of him. He never took to the coaching and busted out as well.
Don't ignore measurables, but also don't ignore a guy that has high production, technique, and motor just because of measurables. If he is missing any of the 3 (especially motor), you are taking a huge risk.
Not saying this guy has all 3, but don't write him off just because of short arms.
Edit:
I wills say I was more right about Jones than wrong about Barnett and this is how much the motor part truly matters.
Jones had a 4 year career with 130 tackles and 6 sacks. Barnett will be playing in his 10th season this year and in 9 years has 216 tackles and 34 sacks.
Jones played 50 game with 35 starts, while Barnett played 112 games with 50 starts.

Last few years he was forced to draft Breese b/c we had no viable DT’s on the roster and Penning b/c we had no tackles. Remember they rolled him out as a rookie starting at left tackle.
Then had to draft Fuaga b/c Penning was such a bust. So not always.

I don’t see any way he plays on that 5th year with his health questions. It’s too big of a risk for him

What is with this board’s obsession with moving someone to G or getting someone who recently moved there? Why can’t we just get an actual proven G?

Who disappeared most of the season. Sure he can play with absolute fire when he wants to, but the issue is when will he want to. Only in big games? That’s a big risk in the top 10 of the draft
Bain was second in the nation in pressures. He had 4+ in every game besides VT. Hard to question a guy’s “fire” when he’s constantly getting at the QB. You can’t get a sack every game, especially when you’re the focal point of the defense. The arm thing is an issue but his effort isn’t. Listen to any interview and you can tell he’s hungry

I would add a veteran tight end like Cade Otton if the price is right.

Bain is a no brainer at 8. We need playmakers on defense.

I like Bailey too. He could be a top 10 lock post combine.

I like Tevin Jenkins off the browns. Former high pick that just moved to guard. Had good pff grades in backup duty. Let him battle it out with Saldiveri and rookies.
I also like Jenkins and said the saints should've brought him in this yr but he won't be battling with saldiveri. Saldivieri is horrible and will likely be cut.
