Escaping the USA cesspool has reinvigorated me and given me a whole new lease on life …. if you think any politician is going to be your “savior” and turn America around in this lifetime, then im sorry to say you are delusional .. I realize that expatriating is not the answer for everyone, but if you aren’t on the hook for child support or in extremely poor health or other factors- it can be life-changing .

Get rid of medial: social and mainstream. Anyone who is trying to sell commercials will keep you down.

TRT, get in the gym, spice up the private time with the wife and go see new stuff. Or, fill the void by blowing money like my and I. Life is short, it won't fix itself!

Is this just being an adult or are there any tips for breaking out of a rut that have worked for you?

Exercise. See work as working to live not living to work. Cut out alcohol. Get enough sleep. Limit caffeine intake to the mornings. Get sunlight. Have sex. If you’re single, talk to attractive women. If married, game your wife regularly. Get a different haircut. Take up a musical instrument. Join a running club.

We get sucked into the “work and then die” mentality because it demands that of us. But if you take on the “nah…frick you” attitude and build your life from the ground up (but starting with your mind) you’ll find that life is too rich and full to have time for burnout.

OP if all your needs are met, you are safe and healthy, and you neither have to fight for or against anyone or anything in order to enjoy those gifts…then all you are missing is gratitude

Humble yourself before the very real and very exceptional position you have achieved and resolve to be worthy of those gifts. Every day will be new

Go regularly to church, not watch services online. God is joy unspeakable and full of glory. Give time to him each day in prayer and study of his word. Fellowship with those of like-minded faith.

Get and read daily the book Jesus Calling by Sarah Young.

Satan will come at you with worry, depression, burnout, etc. The bible says resist him in Jesus's name and he must flee. James 4:7. He will return but you know how to send him on his way again.

Don't allow Satan to steal your joy and bind you down with burnout or depression.

Yep. A job I used to love became miserable. I was always stressed out and in a bad mood. I quit and went into business for myself. It’s not easy, but I feel like a different person. I am so much happier. I’m still doing the same work, but not for a large company anymore. I am in control over my time and effort and it has completely reinvigorated me. I was fortunate enough to be able to make the change, but I know that’s not the case for everyone.

ETA: before I quit, I sat down and wrote out all my thoughts and feelings and had to find the root cause of my unhappiness. When I was able to pinpoint it, it allowed me to make a plan to address it.

Figure out how to start doing things on your own terms. Things like debts, job stressors, and relationships all take a toll and you need to break free from them. Not walk away, but figure out why they're bothering you and work to fix them and yourself.

Like the Smashing Pumpkins song, Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage." Feee yourself.

plan your weekends, read a good book, it takes planning

Extreme burnout. Sadly it doesn't seem like any of the suggestions to get out of it are really viable for me.

As others have said, the trick is to add something new. It can be anything. I have an army buddy that is dealing with a bunch of stuff and I suggested something for him. It's simple but I did it too and it's helpful.

I've done this a few times...

Starting today do 5 pushups every hour. If you can't do 5 regular pushups do 5 on your knees.

If you can do 5, do 5 every hour of the work day all week. Take the weekend off.
Next week, do 10 pushups every hour. Week after add 5 more pushups and do 15 and so on.

I work in an office in a professional setting, I still do my pushups.

It's a minor way to improve, only takes minutes a day and it's a way of "moving forward". Other than that, I always have a "project" going that requires me to learn something. I've built a boat, several cars, turned a school bus into an RV and now I'm starting a new business.

It's all about moving forward.

Totally. It took my 40 years but it happened. Total burnout. Talking to friends and giving each other mutual pep talks every day.
