It’s telling that you don’t understand this already.

It’s golf. Been playing for over 50 years and most of my cursing has involved the game.
I wouldn’t put an age limit on it.

well no one golfs with their mom or grandma. So let’s just agree that no women are around
I can refute that. I live on a golf course. During the spring there are a lot of school teams that practice and / or play tournaments here.
There are lots of moms around watching little Jaxton hit his shots.

I was hunting with my 5 year old daughter this weekend. We killed what I thought was a doe but ended up being a freshly shed buck.
When I walked up to it the first thing I said was “God damnit”. She walked slipped in a God Damnit about 45 minutes later when referring to the deer. I addressed it but ultimately gave her a pass.
TLDR : Killed a buck thinking it was a doe. Gave 5 y/o a pass for repeating God Damnit

After they are on their own.

Way too high. You shouldn't swear on a golf course until you shoot par or better for 18. Then you have a right to swear occasionally. That $800 driver (or whatever they cost these days) and your big truck/fast car don't make you a decent golfer, let alone one good enough to be disgusted by a bad shot. Your swing just ain't good enough.

My kids were never allowed to swear in their parent's presence, regardless of their age. They are 25 and 23 now and they still don't do it.

I remember a ref telling me to tone down my language my junior year of high school football - age 16
My mom's cousin (opposing team) told my mom at halftime, she said I was out there dropping GD bombs
I do think I cussed plenty in baseball at a younger age

I would put big sigh resigned cursing in a very different basket than animated aggressive cursing.

Friend,
The short answer is that it is never appropriate for a child or adult to swear on a golf course or anywhere, for that matter. The occasional, or worse, habitual resort to profanity betrays not merely a lapse in decorum but a deeper impoverishment of moral discipline and intellectual patience. Such language, coarse in texture and blunt in effect, functions less as an instrument of thought than as a substitute for it, masking imprecision of mind and unmasking ethical character flaws. Mother taught me that profanity proclaims impatience with judgment and others within earshot. The profane speaker, regardless of age or site of his sin, reveals an abdication of the higher faculties in favor of momentary release, thereby diminishing both the dignity of discourse and the stature of the speaker himself.
Yours,
