They also had another one on the property but out in the parking lot that was independent of the mall proper but on the property for a while too
I MIGHT have seen Midway there, not sure.
I saw Hooper at the Robert E Lee on Plank, and absolutely saw Message From Space there too.
I believe I saw Smokey and the Bandit at a theater next to the Woolco on Plank by Airline (Next to Burger Chef).
Saw Jaws at the Baker Theater.
All that was before Cinema 8 opened at Bon Marche.
Trying to remember what all I saw at the Broadmoor, before it became a dollar theater. Maybe Fox and the Hound?
Man, I miss all the old theaters that used to be in Baton Rouge.

I must have gone to Cortana a million times in the late 80s and early 90s but somehow I don’t remember this theater at all. I do remember Chick Fil A and Mama Brava and Orange Bowl.
My earliest movie memories are seeing The Bear at the Essen theater and Land Before Time at the Broadmoor theater.

Apparently, the Movie Theatre closed in 1988. That is what I'm getting from the responses.

The Movie theater was taken out when the mall expanded and the Mervin’s was added in the late 80’s

Has nobody mentioned the $1 theatre outside LSU near Murphy’s and behind IHOP ? Seeing a horror movie there was an audience participation

Yep, when I lived in Kirby Smith Dorms, we used to go over there on Tuesday Nights. I'm not sure if that was discount night or not.
And, I agree. Seeing a scary show there came with audience participation.

Next to Burger Chef
The original Burger Chef on Plank, was next to a big car wash. Across from Herbs Trailers. You could get 8 burgers for a dollar.

Saw Smokey and The Bandit four time in one day at that theater.

Are you going to send your wife's friend a link to this thread?

I fingered a girl named Tiffany in the Cortana theater. Hairy bush

For a long time, LSU Football would go to Bon Marche Mall movie theater on Friday nights as a group. They would usually see the same movie.

That was Cortana for sure.

That was a Belushi film, making fun of midway. 1941 was the title.

My wife's friend claims Cortana Mall never had a Movie Theatre unless it was before the 80's.
It had a movie theater that closed in the mid-1980's.

Nope. Wesley's pizza. Owned by the same family that owned The Pastime, close to Frostop downtown.

There absolutely was a Frostop location nearby. It was a little further east on Florida. Wesleys was in the same building as the theater, just down a sidewalk.
I dont think the two were open at the same time. Wesleys was there when I moved to Broadmoor in the late 70s and closed. Frostop was open in the 90s.

Yep I remember that one. There was a small resurgence of Frostop in the late 80's and they opened that location near Broadmoor and one in Denham. Neither lasted too long.

I had forgotten about that one! Yes, neither was open more than a few years.
