It all goes in one pot out of which everything is paid. Works fine.

Yes. She keeps 100% of hers. I pay all the bills from mine and spend some.

Yep.
We each have our personal accounts. Neither has a clue what’s on the other’s. She pays X bills, I pay Y.
We have a joint account that we never use.
I’ve got several others that are tied to businesses.
It’s worked fine for years. We communicate and trust each other. Crazy concept.

Yes and we're both much happier that way.

Yes. I have a seperate checking account which is for personal use. We share a joint checking account for bills, grocery, household expense, car insurance, children's various expenses, etc... She also has a seperate checking account for her personal expenses (shopping, dinners w/ friends, etc...) We have a joint savings account. I can spend out of my seperate account freely. She can spend out of her seperate account freely. Alleviates any possible tension of spending on our frivolous items.
This, we got married at 33 and have too much invested/saved to try to commingle without it becoming a nightmare.

Seperate accounts. Seemed like a pain in the arse to change everything.

Yes, we have a joint account for bills. Separate accounts works better for us and has for over a decade. She is super detailed about tracking every dollar spent and im more relaxed. So sharing an account wasnt going to work for us. Plus easier to keep gifts and christmas presents, etc. secret this way

We have a joint checking account and separate savings accounts (including retirement accounts).

Yes. We both have our own separate checking and savings accounts and we have a joint checking and savings account.
Personal buys (gas, clothes, etc) come from our personal accounts and household purchases (mortgage, insurance, cable, repairs, etc) come from the joint checking account.
We also have access to each other's accounts just in case of an emergency.

We have our own primary accounts but we are both on each others’ account so not really separate I guess. It is easier for her to track expenses for her business with the separate account.
Posted on 1/18/22 at 6:48 am to lsu xman
No, but we do have separate credit cards with self-imposed monthly limits. It works well for us.

Yes and it’s the best thing we ever did. We can each keep our finances in check without having to not know what the other has spent or is planning on spending.
My wife doesn’t need to work, I’m OT rich. I have one account that money goes into for autopay bills only. No debit card, never spending money besides the bills. I have a second account for spending money. And my wife has her spending account.

No. Dont see the point
Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing in real time. You're both writing checks and using debit cards.
Of course I'm not a poor so that isn't an issue, but if money is tight it's better to have each of you be responsible for certain expenses so you can watch every dollar.

3, and multiple savings accounts. Both have access to everything.
Marry the right one and you don’t have to worry. I’m the drop a grand on something because I feel like it one in the family.

The wife and I have seperate checking accounts but also a joint account that we pay our bills from. We both contribute 50/50 to that account. Our personal spending comes out of our personal accts. Our savings accts. are set up the same way but I contribute a little more than she does to the joint acct.

Works perfectly since we both make about the same. We split the expenses…..
We never fight about money.
Same here. She buys how ever many shoes, clothes, etc she wants and i buy whatever i want. If we have to make a large purchase we'll split it. No big deal.
