In LA the IQ cutoff is 130.
Not completely accurate. They use a matrix. The matrix includes IQ score, reading achievement scores, math achievement scores. A 130 does get you in to gifted regardless of math and reading, at least in grades 1–12. You can also qualify with a You can also qualify with an IQ score one and 1/2 standard deviations above the mean. Specifically, in grades first through 12 an IQ of 123 with math achievement scores and reading achievement scores of 123 or higher will get you in the gifted. The math and reading achievement scores use the same type of standard scores.
In pre-K and kindergarten the minimum IQ is 2 1/2 standard deviation above the mean with math and reading achievement scores being at least two standard deviations above the mean for one and 2 1/2 standard deviations above the mean for the other. A 145 IQ will get you straight in gifted for kindergarten and pre-K.

IDK how it is now but one of the ways that used to get you into gifted was having an IQ that was 2 standard deviations above normal which is 130 or above. - ask me how I know.
I believe you. What schools call gifted is probably different than the real world. I had to take honors courses in college but I’m not in the “Genius” category which is more like 145. There aren’t that many Einstein/Tesla types running around.

Private schools don't have gifted classes.
Not always true. I got bussed to the public school one day/week with the other gifted kids in 1st-2nd grade

The question is why all the 130+ IQs weren't in gifted.
Some of us were in GT.

Is taking an IQ test a common thing? I don't believe I know of anyone who has done so.

The older I get, the more I care about someone’s CSQ, Common Sense Quotient. Common Sense has become a superpower.

took some pretty heavy duty psych testing for the guard and for my current employer, among those tests was IQ testing

You are asking if everyone on this bord has a 130+IQ?
Have you read all of the shite post myself and others post?
The question should be "What percentage of posters are under 70?"

I took one for an employer too. Did it in some place in Metairie. Was 13 years ago so I forgot exactly where.

i do find it funny so many on here claim to be 130 plus, never did gifted and then majored in liberal arts degrees from LSU barely passing college trig.
even the ones with masters brag about barely getting into grad school. its quite comical.

No OweO.
Did you see the post on OT that all these dudes are 130-170?
There is no way. I’m ~145 and the entire OT smarter. No way.

Of course I more than believe this.
The OT only however. SEC rant, not so much.
