I try to post this in every Far Side thread, but any fan of The Far Side needs to own this...it's the complete collection of every tFS cartoon Gary Larson ever drew. It's two HUGE books and they come in a pretty nice case. Glossy pages and every comic looks great. It's a little pricey, but worth it.

Every time I am behind someone that pushes a "pull" door, I remark " Midvale alum? What year did you graduate?
and nobody gets it... but one of these days... That joke will payoff, and I can die happy.

But my favorite is
Because
quote:
A thagomizer (/'?æg?ma?z?r/) is the distinctive arrangement of spike-shaped osteoderms on the tails of some stegosaurian dinosaurs. These spikes are believed to have been a defensive measure against predators.
The arrangement of spikes originally had no distinct name. Cartoonist Gary Larson invented the name "thagomizer" in 1982 as a joke in his comic strip The Far Side, and it was gradually adopted as an informal term sometimes used within scientific circles, research, and education.

I had (and still have) all the volume books dating back to the mid 1980s. Incredible teaching opportunities for my 4 sons from age 6 - early 20s. To get the jokes you need to know multiple sciences, history and culture. Every couple of years they "got" a joke they hadn't got before.
Today all 4 are happily married with children employed in the field of their choice. Thanks be to Gary Larson
