I don’t think it will happen, but the island has a population of roughly 56,480 and is among the least densely populated in the world. Seems like the population could quickly be bought off.

Greenland would also exceed the Louisiana Purchase as the largest geographic acquisition in U.S. history. If possible, why not?

Is Greenland’s current status with Denmark an impediment to this currently? Especially considering that Denmark is in NATO?

This is doubtful but they (the people of Greenland who actually live in Greenland) also don't seem to care much for the Danes and for good reason. Look up the forced sterilization on the Inuit women and the recent half-assed apology from the government of Denmark on the situation.

The unemployment rate for Greenland is 50%+ and the average salary is $35k, they are clearly not benefitting from their relationship with Denmark.

I’m not sure this is correct. Greenland isn’t as big as most people think it is.

Neither, probably a Protectorate. Puerto Rico gets a representative in Congress, I don’t think Greenland would. They would remain autonomous with our protection, allowing us to do the military related installations we want to do

You may as well start colonizing the moon, it has the same likelihood of happening.

The U S has bases there that can be reopened and utilized at any time but if a nuclear war breaks out it’s over for everyone and no amount of umbrella crap is going to stop it.

Russia has roughly 1,718 deployed strategic nuclear warheads assigned to ICBMs, submarines, and bombers, with a significant portion capable of reaching the U.S., though exact numbers "pointed at" the U.S. aren't public; estimates place their total warhead count around 4,380, keeping rough parity with the U.S. under New START limits, despite Russia suspending treaty participation in 2023.

That would be far more attractive to them then being a Danish Colony.
