I was 8 when I saw my dad drop dead of a heart attack in 61. Over the years I've seen people killed in motorcycle and car accidents and on 2 occasions I've been asked to do welfare checks on people and found 2 of them dead in their house.
The last was a good friend of mine who had no family here and his sister from Dallas called to ask if I'd mind checking on him since she hadn't heard from him in several days.
Yeah, he had been dead at least a week and it wasn't pretty. At least it was in early February and still in the cooler months of the year.

Saw my grandpa take his dying breath along with half my family by his side. Not much to say about it other than it’s its a very somber experience.
I was in my early twenties

In my line of work I unfortunately see it all too often

My dad. I was holding his hand. He just stopped breathing. It took me a few seconds to realize. I said a prayer for him, and talked to him for a few minutes, then let the rest of my family know.

Yes, we were helping a neighbor with some hay in his field. He had a massive heart attack while we were working and died while we were attempting CPR. Twitching and foaming at the mouth while in the throes of death is not a pleasant thing to witness.

Yes. My wife on May 20 last year. It absolutely sucks that there is nothing you can do besides CPR.

My grandmother died in a hospital in 1984. I was at her bedside.

42 now but was 33 when my 1 week old passed in my wife's arms. He was already not expected to make it, we were in the hospital.
Driving home on i10 from New Orleans to Gonzales and there was a wreck in front of me. People had already stopped to help but as I passed i saw the guy was hanging halfway out of his truck. Later saw on Facebook News that he was deceased. I felt bad that morning and day.. Couldn't really sleep at all because every time I close my eyes I saw the image.

was holding Mom's hand and playing Marty Robbins on my phone for her

I watched with my family as my dad breathed his last in April 2017. Pancreatic cancer. He was 81.
A year later my aunt died and I was holding her in my arms when she died. We cared for her at my parents’ house and my mom and I were the only ones there at the time. Her lungs were rattling. Not enough time to call for medical but there wasn’t much that could be done. Congestive heart failure. I think she was 80.
At my last college cross country meet in 1986 a runner collapsed shortly after crossing the finish line, not moving. EMTs started lifesaving efforts but he continued to be non-responsive. They loaded him into an ambulance. We learned later he didn’t make it.

Yes, I was with both my grandfather and dad when they shuffled off. It certainly lingers

that’s called the death rattle, and appropriately so

I was present when they took my lovely wife off of the vent. That was just awful. But it was also just horrible watching her decline over the last 6-8 months. It’s like you know what’s coming but you are unable to stop it. That’s the only time and I hope it’s the last. Sometimes the pain is just unbearable.
