Except this time my brother is asking for Montreal steak seasoning to add to his steak on top of salt and pepper.

I generally use salt, pepper, and occasionally garlic powder. If I baste with butter it’s garlic butter.

What’s in Montreal Steak Seasoning? Salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, maybe some red pepper and paprika.

Not a huge difference, a few extra ingredients.

Don’t be a steak snob. If someone wants A1, Heinz 57, ketchup, or Peter Luger steak sauce on a steak I cook I don’t care.

I can eat a steak with zero seasoning, but my normal go to is Italian dressing marinade, medium rare, A1, and i don't care who doesn't like the way i do it.

I like to dip my steak in various sauces.

Seasoning is relatively minor with Tony’s, salt pepper, and Italian dressing

Cook it medium rare, that steak will let you know if it is any good.

Salt only pre cooking.

I will butter baste with garlic, and/or rosemary or thyme.

If I’m feeling frisky I will make a pan sauce variation of an au poivre but with whiskey rather than brandy.

Excellent seasoning. Apply liberally 30 minutes before grilling on room temperature steaks.

Badia all purpose seasoning and lime juice.
Sometimes I'll add some Worcestershire sauce.

Tony's is underrated on steak. Of course I salt less when I use it, but the chili powder and garlic in Tony's adds a little something without taking away from the steak itself. Just don't overdo it.

I use Montreal on strip steak. Everything else salt, pepper and some Garlic Garlic seasoning. I’ll also oil filets or other lean meats so they don’t stick.

Dab of butter on top when I take them off to rest.

I experienced a slew of well seasoned meats at Texas de Brazil and that made me rethink my just salt and pepper seasoning. I tried several granulated seasonings and enjoy most of them.

Salt and pepper

Or

Carne Crosta is really, really good. Has some coffee in it. Too bad Oakridge BBQ went out of business. Really liked their jerk seasoning also.
