There are 2 separate I-87 designated interstates, one in NY, one in NC.

The North Carolina 87 is only 12 miles long. The New York one runs all the way through New York into Canada.

All North (shout out North Side) and South bound interstates are odd numbers. And all East and West bound interstates are even numbers.

The large east/west interstates end in 0 and go up in number as they go north. I-10 generally runs along the bottom portion of the US, I-90 near the top.

The large north/south interstates end in 5 and go up in number as they go east. I-5 goes up the west coast, I-95 the east coast.

You’d be surprised. I was in Fort Stockton a few years back and pulled into a gas station. It had about half a dozen charging stations lined up.

That must be a license to print money.

Think about you could probably fleece users 75 cents to a dollar a kilowatt hour out there like how some gas stations charge nearly a dollar more per gallon as you get off the highway or in a BFE town.

Yeah, driving down from the East coast after work, hours and hours, headed for South Florida and you finally get past Jax. Just south of 295 is a sign that says "Miami 331". Dayum, not even close.

I once drove from Key West to Lafayette, I was still in Florida 14 hours after I started driving

On 3 digit numbers if it starts with an even number it brings you around a city, Example I-610 in Nola goes around the CBD. If it starts with an odd number its goes into or away from the city, example I-110, which leads you away or into Baton Rouge.

Actually, on 3 digital interstates, if it’s even, it will connect back to the main interstate. If it’s odd, it will not connect back to the main interstate

Yep. It is about a 4 hour drive from Miami to the western-most point of the keys. Most people assume it's less until they plan part of a vacation and start looking at a map.

If you draw a straight line north from Key West, you would be west of Naples.

If you draw a line from the Dry Tortugas west of Key West north, you would be west of Tampa/St. Petersburg.

While the Florida Keys are a pretty Long Island chain, the Hawaiian and Aleutian Islands are longer. But, you can’t drive them by car.

Whenever you take an exit with 2 cities, the one to the left will be listed first.

I.e.
Take the Baptist / Pumpkin Center exit.

Baptist will be to the left, Pumpkin Center... take a right.

Map Trivia, not Highway:

The State of Tennessee has four "corners": NE, SE, SW, NW.

The longest distance from one of these to another of these corners is the NE corner to the SW one, approximately 500 air miles.

That same 500 miles away from the NE corner of TN (albeit in a different direction) would put you in NYC.

If you take any of the distances from each individual corner to the furthest other point still in Tennessee and see how far that would extend away from Tennessee, it takes in all or parts of 27 US States and some of Ontario.

NC is similar, look at the driving distance & time from one end to the other:

10 Hours and 600 miles to get across NC

when you get past Miami you see a sign that says Key West 100 miles, and it still takes over 3 hours to get there.

I mean that’s basically saying the same thing.

Even is a loop or bypass. Odd is a spur.

Baton Rouge STILL does not have a loop

The coolest thing about driving to Memphis up 55 ,at night, is watching all the Fed Ex planes come into line and fly overhead

West Memphis to Little Rock is a drag of a drive at night

Do not stop in Grenada or Jackson Mississippi at night for gas if driving up 55

I-12 sucks cuz of all the people in the left lane tailgating the fuggg out of each other at 80mph... im talkin 20ft max distance.... nowhere along the route from Florida to BR is it as bad as I-12 from Slidell to Denham

Here's my impression of driving on I-10 or I-12.....

More of general geography, but Carson City Nevada is west of Los Angeles. I didn't realize the until I interviewed for a job there and was talking to the interviewer.

Did that drive a couple of years ago. Took me a little over 5 hours to get from downtown Miami to Key West. Absolutely beautiful drive, though.

The man that made the glue for the yellow reflectors on the highway is Frank Robinson. My uncle.

My house is the exact same distance from: El Paso, the bahamas, belize,, milwaukee, new bern, toledo, and Sante Fe.

It takes longer to drive from baton rouge to El Paso than it does from baton rouge to michigan.
