I was actually wondering. Flights to Vegas in the middle of March are so cheap. Didn't look at hotel rates though

I was there 1/21-1/25 and it was packed. There were several 50k+ conventions, not to mention AVN (which brings in 30k+). And that was on the heels of CES, which brings in excess of 100,000.

I think this is probably a lull before the Super Bowl and March Madness.

Resorts world is never very crowded unless there is a big convention there. The North Strip just doesn’t get the foot traffic. Same for Fontainebleau, which I think is the most beautiful casino resort in Vegas.

I think the higher ups are starting to scale back on the nickel and diming because there has been a noticeable decline visitation. Also, certain shenanigans which I won’t mention are keeping foreign visitors away by the millions.

TLDR: Vegas is slow at times for sure, but not dead at all.

Vegas isn't dead, they just aren't catering towards regular folks these days. Its all about 400 dollar a night rooms and 150 dollar steaks

Coming to post this. Resorts World is struggling and Vegas is done with the Spirit Airlines crowd. They want the F1 types now

People can’t afford Vegas in this economy.

I was there a few months ago and i was shocked at how dead it was. It's a town that's a shell of what it used to be

The wife (no pics) and I went a few years ago and while at the casino one of the days she made an observation that did seem pretty correct. She told me to look around at all the people gambling and notice that they really didn't look like they were exactly having fun.

I don't think the cost/benefit ratio is positive there anymore

I think it's a combination of the price gouging/shitty gambling rules along with the acceptance of gambling in other parts of the country. You could only bet on sports in Vegas before 2018. But $10 water, expensive meals that aren't that great, ridiculous table minimums, and $50/day in resort fees (plus taxes ) on top of your room rate is definitely going to run some people off

First week of march madness is the best time to go in my opinion

Great to stay at the end of the strip then, so you avoid the shoulder shoulder chaos at places like caesars, and the constant smell of weed

Vegas has become greedy in recent years. Folks are tired of $10 waters.

They were greedy back in 2015.

It’s as much service cost as table minimums.
I don’t think the high end casinos can make with less than a $25 minimum and that’s unaffordable for most people east of the Rockies (based on cost of living). I’ll drop $10 for a hand of Blackjack at the nugget in Biloxi and be home before 2am before dropping a load in Vegas at some dump downtown.

Anyway they probably do pretty good when the Prix folks are in town

Vegas caters to the high rollers Still busy with conventions. Gambling is everywhere now so it has lost some of its appeal as a unique Destination

This is propoganda. If you are in the country legally you are fine. Vegas should be blasting the Media.

I lived out there about 11 years ago and when the summer comes around that place is slammed. Pools, clubs and restaurants stay packed.

Haven't been to Vegas since 2009. I do kinda want to go and check out The Fontainebleau. Looks nice.

Read a good article on this last week. It’s hurting bad. The 5B resort Fountainblu is 40% occupied and losing 500k a week.

They said 4 more resorts are upside down

My company booked the MGM for our conference after saying last year it’s our last one in Vegas. I reached out to the person that plans these and she said it was gonna be in Nashville but Vegas sent them a ridiculous offer that was 50% lower and begged them to come back. Got rooms under $100

People are tired of paying $10 for a bottle of water and $30 for a salad for lunch

All the bachelorette parties are now in Nashville, Charleston, Austin, etc and guys are doing Bourbon/golf trips

I'm not sure that it's people can't they just don't want to. Nothing is enjoyable about having to drop the money it takes to do Vegas every time you do anything there

Vegas is charging premium prices and not providing premium services anymore. Gamblers like me can bet on our phone or gamble in New Orleans and not have to deal with the absolute insane prices in Vegas.

The city just doesn’t offer anything exclusive anymore. Still a great place, and they can still put on a great show for an event, but the day to day Vegas is lost right now.

Hope it changes.
