Drink lots and lots of water! Sugar free lemonade will help a little as well.

I've passed a few. The largest was 6mm I believe. Also, just has a 30 mm one surgically removed.
I went to the ER for pain in my right kidney. They scanned me and found a 6.5 mm one in my right kidney and also found a 30 mm one in my left that's was just living rent free for who knows how long.
The doc couldn't get all of the big one in the first surgery. He used a new tool that has a laser, camera and suction all on one. He could only pull/suction out 2-3 mm at a time. So he would have to laser cut the stone 10-15 times and pull those out one by one. He said it became too cloudy and bloody in the kidney to get it all at once.
All this and about $80,000 in bills before insurance because of my Coke Zero addiction. I've only had a couple cokes in the last 2 months. Hopefully, no more stones.

There is a medicine your urologist can prescribe you that opens up your firehose. Once you start feeling the stone moving, start taking it and it'll pass probably without you knowing it.

I worked with a guy one time who had some kind GI issue that made him get kidney stones a few times a year. He said he finally the discovered the best thing for it was to buy six pack of Natty Light fence post, lay in the bed, and drink them.

May be worth a shot

I had to keep the stent in for a week. For me, that week was completely painful. They told me I had to pull it out on my own (I did) unless there was any issues or I just couldn’t make my self do it.

Having the stent in was far more uncomfortable for me than when it was removed. I learned real quick that getting a boner was that last thing I wanted. When the doctor removed it it just felt like the most intense pissing sensation that I could ever imagine, but it wasn't like an intense pain. But I can't imagine having to remove it myself (geez). Luckily my urologist removed it for me.

Hydrate with lemon water. If possible, get a prescription of Flowmax.

I get a big bottle of real lemon

And a squirt bottle of splenda

to make lemonade and keep in the fridge to drink all day. It has helped cut back on my stone encounters.

That and I know when my bladder was getting full, the end felt like it was bouncing off the sides. When I pulled my out, I didn’t realize how long it was. I pulled a little bit slowly, stop, and then pull again. I quickly realized that was not the best method

For me, taking a bath helped with the pain. As soon as I got out, it started hurting again, so I spent quite a bit of time in the tub one Christmas day. Probably not the best idea if you’re taking pain meds, though.

Lots and lots of lemon water, I have had several, just drink tons of water and get some sort of better pain medicine.

If you struggle with nausea from the pain, also ask for a prescription of Zofran.
I quite a few over the years and had one stuck that was remedied with lithotripsy surgery.
I would take passing it naturally 10 out of 10 times. The recovery is much longer.

Yeah, the urologist pulled it out in one long/quick motion. It felt like the most intense pissing sensation I could imagine, but he knew what he was doing and it didn't last long.

But having to pull it out myself, ummm...no thanks. You are definitely a better man than me. I'm not even sure how I would be able to put myself in the headspace to be able to do it.

I had one to the point I could barley move and I felt numb around the groin area.

I was in pain, could barley move, I decided I was going to try to take a wee and limped to the bathroom. I decided to call someone if this didnt work. Well after 3 or 4 tinkles I finally passed it.

It was a horrible experience. Never want another one.
Ever again.

My kidneys are gravel factories. Now I can sense when I have them before pain. Lemon water, citric acid, etc works to dissolve mine.

There are two types. The rarer type would require you to cut back on protein. So dairy, red meats, etc. Thankfully I don’t have that type. I’d rather suck start a shotgun than give up red meat and cheese.

I had a stone bigger around than a quarter but slightly less than a fifty cent piece. They had to use percutaneous nephrolithotomy - a radiologist makes an incision and sticks a tube in the kidney, then they wake you up, take you to the big operating room, knock you out again (not sure what order, I don't remember anything after the initial anesthesia, then the doctor removes the stone through the tube (or breaks it up and then removes it). It was not fun afterwards.

Oddly, aspirin worked best to stop the pain when it acted up. It was not as painful as the smaller stones, because all that it could do was "roll up" to cause pain.
