I’ll admit it, I actually really like Long John Silvers. It’s good for what it is. It doesn’t try to be high end seafood.

IMO you don’t go to McDonald’s because you’re craving a hamburger, you go because you’re craving McDonald’s.

Same applies to LJS or Captain D’s. You don’t go because you’re craving seafood, you go because you’re craving what those two restaurants are.

BTW, the OP showed the nicest LJS I’ve ever seen. Most are trash.

The Bennigan's in New Orleans were independent and were owned by a guy in Memphis. The remained open for about 6 months after the main company went bankrupt. He had to close them because supply cost increased so much.

There's a Captains Ds here I randomly started going to a lot. Decent fried shrimp and a decent price. Perfectly acceptably for fast food.

I’m pretty sure Ronald Reagan was still living at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave the last time I ate at Long John Silver’s. It’s not that I necessarily have anything against it, I love Captain D’s after all, it’s just I never see them. The only one I know of in North Alabama is over on Anniston.

ETA: I just checked and it appears the one in Anniston is no longer there. In fact, looking at their website, there are no Long John Silver’s left in Alabama as far as I can tell.

Haven't had Long John Silvers since 1973 when we moved back to Houma. The first day here after retiring from the AF. Dad got us some and everyone in the family got food poisoning. Haven't tried it since.

Most LJ locations are in a shared building with KFC anyways.
