There was an all-state girl's basketball player in h.s. who had a huge afro. I didn't know until later that it was a wig (I never went to the girls' basketball games where she was sans wig).

his senior year was our first year as a high school, the tallest guy on our team was 6'2", Parish played only the first half in the two games we played Woodlawn, he scored more points in the first half of both games than we scored the entire game...and I'm convinced he was taking it easy on us
