Some can schedule their exams before the actual test is given. Make friends with those guys!

https://thehill.com/opinion/national-security/4304058-how-runaway-disability-compensation-is-straining-veterans-affairs/
quote:
Between 1954 and 2000, the share of veterans receiving disability compensation was very stable, fluctuating between 8 percent and 10 percent. Today, nearly 30 percent of the country’s 18.5 million veterans receive it.
quote:
The primary driver of the growth in disability compensation enrollment has been a series of regulatory and policy changes over the past two decades (including most recently the 2022 PACT Act) that have made it steadily easier for veterans to apply for and qualify for disability benefits for a broader set of medical conditions. As a result of these changes, nearly 40 percent of veterans who served in 1990 or later receive disability compensation benefits.

Frankly, I think you should be able to get info if a lawyer or doctor has a “mental” disability. I’d rather not be operated on by a doctor or have a trial attorney with ADD.

Many stanford grads have become unemployable, they are woke pieces of shite.
They take mostly P/F courses bc Stanford believes grades cause too much stress (not kidding)

I don’t think he’d have to claim disability though, they would give him that designation outright

How about we just stop the benefits that go with being disabled? In the real world, there is no benefit to a Stanford grad that takes 50% longer to do a task.

Meh, who cares? The law is about everything but speed. Speed is not a requirement in practicing law and if a question takes 10 minutes, but he gets it right, that person is just as knowledgeable as a person who takes half the time.

I never took the MCAT or the LSAT, but I didn't know a single person in undergrad at a school with around 25,000 students who got any "accommodations."
We all took our tests in the same room at the same time.
I was there 1988-1992.

An opportunity came up for my son to have an on-campus 1 br apartment instead of a shared dorm at virtually the same cost. We didn't ask for the privilege. It just was, "Hey, this is the last one available and it's only $100 extra. Want it?" So yeah, he, as a freshman has had that apartment and now in his spring sophomore year, still has the same deal. He also gets secure basement parking. He kept it and paid for it himself over the summer, but this summer he's staying in school and his 529 plan pays for it.

The extra time on tests thing used to make me so mad back in the day at LSU.
Half the struggle of some engineering exams was finishing the thing in 50 minutes yet some bozo got to claim ADHD and he got extended time

Is not
quote:that you stated in reference to the 40% of Stanford grads claiming it.
Significantly lower than the percentage of non-combat vets that do the same.
TL;DR: "nearly 40%" is not 'significantly lower' than "nearly 30%"

Same. And one of them was on law review, order of the coif, etc.

Getting extra time on an exam that is only difficult because of the extreme time crunch is a leg up that a lot of people couldn't resist taking. I imagine that has only proliferated since then.
I was told that a lot of parents are getting their kids on 504 plans to give them this leg up, when they really don't need it.
I have a son that is an autist and severely ADHD and is on the 504 plan.

Today I learned you can use your HSA account to buy a fancy litter box.
Just gotta claim your cat as service animal.
This is what society has become.

When I went there, the blacks had a special summer school before the first semester to prepare them for laws school. LSU tried to hide it too. Caused quite a stink for all us whiteys. MFers. It’s partly why they get $0.00 from me.

Same thing going on at medical schools. You have folks hat are valedictorian in high school and college and now all of a sudden you have a learning disability because "med skool is hard."

You are so right. As I said earlier, I am in law school right now, and half my class gets accommodations. What's more, they bring in therapy dogs to help alleviate stress for these Nancy's. For the record, I am a 53-year-old law student, so accommodations weren't really a thing when I was in college in the 1990's. I do not even know how to type, and I was advised to apply for a "senior" accommodation, which I refused because there will be no accommodations in real life.
