i don't care what the stats say... this isn't true at all.

67% of 2nd marriages end in divorce.
75% of 3rd marriages end in divorce.
74% of divorces are initiated by the wife.

this i believe is 100% correct.

More marriages end in divorce than don't end in divorce.
And as he stated in the interview, this doesn't even account for people in miserable marriages that don't end in divorce.
The marriages where he stays because he doesn't want to lose his house, 401k, pension, kids etc.
The marriages where she only stays because he provides and she doesn't want to get a job.

Imagine looking at marriage only through financial and sexual lenses. Poor fella.

Look at the numbers. Your wife does NOT care.

There is a lesson here for straight couples too.

The frontal lobe cortex does not fully development until 35. That is what helps control impulsivity. Gay men have no societal pressure to get married. Most are "living that lifestyle" (meaning Grindr hookups and clubs) until their frontal cortex is fully developed. Most of them do not actually settle down until they are closer to 40.

By that age all people (not just gay men) are more prepared for a longstanding commitment.

By the time women hit 35....they are getting to be a little old to start having kids. They hit that wall and start scrambling; by then there is nothing left but scraps. So while they are better equipped at 35 to make good decisions on partners and to be a better wife to someone; they are biologically in a more risky position to be mothers. There is a lot of pressure for them to get married earlier than that.

Hence my rule:

If she's been divorced twice, ghost ASAP.

Good rule for women, too.

The problem is not necessarily marriage, it’s monogamy.

If sex and your separate belongings are the most important things about a marriage, then I would agree marriage isn't for you.

And Prenups get tossed out on a regular basis.
There are Law Firms that specialize in busting prenups.

Eh. This is more to do with prenups are for what you bring into the marriage. Any good attorney can get access to the money made during the marriage even if it's from an asset you brought into the marriage. They might not get the actual asset, but anything during the actual marriage they can work to get a piece of.

Plus, most people are young with they first get married. They don't really have shite that it would be worth a prenup protecting.

The 74% initiated by the wife reminds me of how a friend of mine had this mentality that he was so against divorce and because him and his wife were catholic, it was some huge deal.

Several of us would tell him, you can’t force someone to stay with you, if she wants out some day, catholic or not, she is gonna go.

Well sure enough, after 12 years, she was miserable and wanted out. She filed and that was that. Dude to this day, can’t wrap his head around how she could do something like that.

100%. There are women out there that marry for the wrong reasons because they have that insurance policy when things don't work out like a fairy tale for her. That insurance policy is a massively unfair family court system that is usually heavily tilted in her favor.

And now we know why sons from upper middle and upper class families often are more sophisticated at masking assets. It's not entirely because they get hand outs from mom and dad. It's because mom and dad's assets aren't at risk from being stolen by a vindictive 30 year old woman who can't keep her legs closed.

This isn't surprising. Some people just have bad pickers, yet they keep picking.
