One thing I learned during Katrina was that almost nobody realized that Office Depot has plenty of water, and snacks.

my family in Crosby was without power for 4+ days. In Temple we had no power from Sunday to Friday. That shite will haunt you.
And this is why I don't wait until the last minute to buy a generator because I have had power out for over a month before. Last big storm was 3 weeks.

I've bought all the crampons available in Georgia or Alabama

Ammo is a great currency.

I never understood it.
If I went through some traumatic storm unprepared once, I'd be out to get what I need to assure that never happens to me again (assuming you have the means).
2021 was five years ago. And people traumatized by it then are running out TODAY to find a generator?

But did you stock up on TP?
This always kills me. Between stocking up on TP and bottled water---like those companies are going to stop producing toilet paper or bottling water during a winter storm.
Gee, the folks up north must wipe their asses 5 months out the year with pine cones and dried leaves if that is the case.
People are so stupid.

This storm isn’t gonna be that cold, but it does have the potential to knock down trees and powerlines, which could leave people without power for days.

Brookshires in NWLA had 20 fricking cars at the gas pumps at 11am today. I guess everyone is gassing up for their shite to sit in the garage.

Projected wind gusts in Houston aren’t even going to top 30 mph, and again the high on Sunday will be in the 40s so even if there is minor tree damage the roads should be fine for repair crews to get around.

the panic buying has started! I went to Sam’s (to get ahead of the crowd)
So, you were panic buying?
Actually, no….i am going duck hunting in SW Louisiana to close out the season this weekend and went to get supplies for that. It is not projected to freeze down there!

I appreciate you calming things down in here, but where are you seeing highs in the 40s Sunday? The highest I have seen on a couple of sites is 35. If it is sunny, that should do the trick to melt the ice in the roads, but, if it's a bit colder and cloudy, it could cause road issues for a day or so.

Lots of people in grocery stores in the middle of a workday today.

Where I live there has been snow on the ground since thanksgiving and the forecast HIGH temp tomorrow is -5 with wind chills of -37. People drive in snow and ice all winter long here. I drove through snow on my way home from work yesterday. Just posting this so everyone understands, this is not that big of a deal. Don’t freak out.
