Although it's private and not public I think it should still be treated like any pedestrian pathway. If someone has a keychain on their belt and it rubs along the vehicle that's not the pedestrians fault.
Speaking of, why would you go out of your way to invite people to frick with your vehicle?

Anyone who does this is an a-hole

Yeah I was referring to soft impact where only minor damage to bumper and/or sensors would occur. These are expensive out of pocket repairs but not expensive enough to file a claim.
Hard impact indicates enough damage that you're going through insurance for repairs.

If you intentionally park in such a way that anyone with mobility issues, from the elderly to the disabled to people with strollers, have to go “the long way around” because of you, you’re a self absorbed prick.

Not just safer, it’s easier to park and to leave the parking spot when driving the truck.

It’s actually not easier and it’s certainly not safer. When backing into the spot, you’re in much more control over the situation behind your vehicle. When you’re backing out of the spot, you’re at the mercy of every Tom, Dick, and Harry that’s cruising through the parking lot not paying attention.

I hope you're a chick or handicapped. If not, you are softer than puppy shite.

With trucks getting larger and parking spots getting smaller, it's just easier to back in.
How is it easier to back in to a constrained space as opposed to backing in to a larger space?

But that’s only 1/2 of your maneuver.

I think this argument somewhat has lost its validity with how good backup cameras are now. With my backup camera, I can technically see better/earlier when leaving a parking spot backwards. I'm in a car so if there are SUV's or trucks on either side of me, i'm going to have to get pretty far out of the spot before I can legitimately see any oncoming vehicles from either direction. So, backing out is going to be the safer bet as I can see any oncoming vehicles almost immediately.
I still back in when spots are tight as it is easier to do, but if you have a good backup camera, backing out of the spot you have a better visual field than going forward, unless your vehicle is tall enough to see over/past anything beside you.

When some dumbass is backing in and forcing me to wait, I run right up behind them and put it in Park.

Then youre stupid fricking a-hole and I hope you get a flat tire today.

Yea, that's a dick move.
Having a truck similar to that I know that you can pull up to where the ball is just at or past the edge of the sidewalk and you're still not sticking out in the lane of the parking lot.
Secure that shite.
People like that have no clue, no awareness, or just totally selfish. Very easy to prevent that like Snipe stated above.

Why? It doesn’t make him park any faster, in fact it most likely slows him down, and now you’ve put yourself possibly in a position to get hit because you had to wait 10 seconds.

How about just not backing into spots?
Because it doesn't look as cool and takes about twice as long, especially when there are no other cars on either side and you could pull in forward in about 1 second. And the fun thing here...it looks like he's too far over in the spot so probably on top of the yellow line on the other side

How so? Most cars have backup cameras so you can easily see what's coming in either direction, and many cars have cross traffic alerts if someone is coming.

Sometimes the stupidity in the place impresses me and I've been around here for a long time.
I have spent a lot of time driving around in 4 door long bed duallies. Its is absolutely easier and safer for everyone involved to back into parking spots regardless of the side of the vehicle. With large trucks, its often the only way possible to park them.

Looking through a backup camera with a fisheye view is better than looking through your windshield with your actual eyes and being able to turn your head to see each direction?
ETA Sitting lower in a car I can somewhat get behind not being able to see around bigger vehicles. You won’t be able to see around them when pulled in either.
But you’ll never convince me that having tunnel vision looking into a camera is better than taking your time and using your mirrors and looking out the back of the car.
Walking into Walmart one afternoon, my girls and I were almost run over by a lady looking out of her camera. We were standing behind the car on her drivers side, easily visible in her door mirror (because I was watching her through it), and when she started cutting out, the nose of her car came a little too close for comfort. She never checked any of her mirrors. Look around people frick.

No it's not. Every time you park you're pulling in forward one time and backward one time. The difference is if you pull in the spot forward you're going to be backing out into a wider and longer area (the row). If you back into the spot, you're backing into a much tighter spot that is also much shorter with lines you need to end up between.
I'd welcome anyone to do a test and see who can get into and out of a spot easier and more quickly. I pull in forward, you back in (cuz truck!) and we'll see who wastes less time and parks better. We can do it at Sonic.
