Going forward, I have to pull out almost to the point that my body is at the end of their vehicle to be able to see around them, exposing the entire hood of my car. There is no argument you can make that exposing any part of the car without being able to adequately see oncoming vehicles is safer than not having to expose it at all and see those potential vehicles.
Pretty sure the bed of a truck, if backing out, will stick out a lot further than the hood of your car pulling forward.

This guy gets it.
We all drive different cars. What works for him may not work for me.

Have you never used a backup camera either? The bed of the truck will not have to stick out at all to be able to see *with the backup camera*. It can be essentially even with the vehicles to your side.
That is the point. You will be able to identify oncoming vehicles sooner with the backup camera than any other method, when there is obstructed views. Which, is the really the dangerous part about leaving parking spots. If there are no vehicles on either side of you, its all fairly irrelevant. Since the most present danger when leaving a parking spot are oncoming vehicles you can't see due to obstructed views from other vehicles, the backup camera gives you the earliest opportunity to spot oncoming vehicles.
So, as I originally said, the statement that it is always safer to pull out of a spot front ways has somewhat been invalidated because of backup cameras. There are many scenarios where it is actually safer to back out, depending on situations and vehicles present.

Which is perfectly fine. I made issue with the blanket statement that it always safer and/or easier to pull forward out of a spot. That is bad advice as it is not.

Park at a place further away that doesn’t inconvenience the handicapped or elderly.
Or let your truck suffer the consequences.

While I don’t do it, I would rather that than the hitch barely over. At least the way pictured I don’t kick the bastard.

tell that to every single person i see doing this who takes easily 3x as long to park.
So it takes 9 seconds instead of 3. It’s still significantly easier to back into a spot with a truck than it is to pull into a tight one.

Awareness of others has never let me down.
Never.
OK w/back in. OK with some overlap with sidewalk. Not OK with parker's lack of awareness (or care) that others shins will lose battle with hitch everytime.
Screams driver does not do a lot of walking and neighbors with bruised tibia.

That truck should be towed for illegal parking.

Except it doesn't. I can back into a space faster than I can pull forward into it if the lot is crowded.

You do realize you're making the exact same maneuvers every time you park, right? One time backing and one time driving forward, or conversely one time pulling forward and one time backing?
What you’re missing is that all 4 wheels on a vehicle can’t turn, if they could your point would be valid.

Take off the hitch and I'm personally ok with it. Those things a shin busters....

With trucks getting larger and parking spots getting smaller, it's just easier to back in.
How is it any safer? Pulling in the driver can see, backing in he is looking through a camera.
