Pleats and cuffs are back in style.

I might be willing to do a single pleat, but definitely not the 80s/90s deep 3-pleat look. I've got a narrow waist and big thighs, so pleats would actually functional for me and I still can't do it.

Cuffs, however, are a must on suit trousers and even some chinos, depending on the fabric and the shoes you wear with them.

On heavy winter fabrics like a good pair of medium grey flannels, there's not much better than a nice heavy cuff.

On lighter fabrics, cuffs help the trousers drape better too.

I had my tailor add pick stitching to all my PFG button downs to make them look fancy.

No other man should pay this much attention to what another man wears.

Unless, of course, you’re gay.

Yes, the marketing d bags at Men's Warehouse and Joseph A Bank caught on that well tailored suits had that type stitching. So, they have duplicated it, exaggerated it and made it a focal point for their cheap suits to seem higher quality. It's a marketing ploy. Not surprising.

Brooks Brothers outlet suits have the stitching.

Do farmers, construction workers, bartenders, truck drivers, and store managers go to church, take ladies to nice restaurants, attend operas/symphonies/ballets, go to funerals, etc.? A "closet full of suits" is unnecessary, but a solid navy blue, 4-season weight, 2 button, notch lapel suit will cover anything from a wedding to a funeral. There are occasions that warrant proper dress. Just because society has become slovenly and lazy, it shouldn't be used as an excuse to wear cargo shorts and a PFG shirt.

Gallup says church attendance is down to 20% of Americans, so apparently people aren’t going to church. And churches are so desperate for attendance, they welcome people in whatever attire makes THEM comfortable.

Most people don’t go to restaurants that require a suit.

Most business settings no longer require a suit.

Most funerals and weddings don’t even require a suit.

The suit may make a comeback, but it’s dying or dead. A person can have one or 2 suits forever and be fine.

I worked for a company that required a coat just to go to the bathroom. It sucked. I haven’t worn a suit in about 16 years, a sports coat has been all I have needed. I would have been wildly out of place with a suit and tie.

It’s weird you associate a suit with being productive. But you do you, sir.

It's weird that you can't fricking read. Here's what I said.

Which was in reply to this...

That’s some stupid fricking shite. So farmers, construction workers, bartenders, truck drivers, store managers…. Etc… aren’t real men if they don’t have a closet full of suits?

I quite literally stated that you don't need a "closet full of suits" and that if you did things that warranted a suit, a single solid navy notch lapel suit would cover just about anything.

With reading comprehension like yours, I doubt you held any job that required anything other than a uniform and apron to keep the french fry grease off your shirt.

That's about like me. I'm a college graduate, have worked in white collar office jobs for 25 years. I own one grey suit for mostly weddings and funerals.

I don't think I've put it on in 5 years or so at this point.

Back in the day every one of those men had a suit in their closet and they wore it to church and other important occasions.

The best way to buy suits is one coat, two pairs of pants. The pants wear faster. I am saddened by the demise of the suit.

Yeah, “a suit.”

The premise is that because people aren’t wearing suits often (hence the “closet full” mention), people are lazy etc.

Most people don’t need a suit at all. Most don’t need more than one. Fashion evolves.

So again you disparage the working class? What’s wrong with people that wear uniforms and aprons? You seem like a douche that is focused on your aesthetic more than anything.

Suits are a relic of the past. I applaud their demise. I once worked in an office that required a suit, including donning your coat if you left your desk to go to the bathroom.

The mindset that applauds the demise of the suit in formal settings is the same mindset that prompts adults to wear pajamas on airplanes.
