More than 20 years ago, but we used to go to Tabby’s when we went out freshman year because they had a keg and did not card. It was always fun.
Did this too.
Was awesome going to tabbys in high school.

Weird fact...
When I was playing drums with JT and the Guttersharks, I was offered more cocaine there than any other bar I played in BR...
I'm talking bars like Sports, Freds, Murphy's and Chris' Bar on North Street.

Yep. Right by industriplex. It was by a house owned by the Falcons who owned a pest control company. The property looked more like something you would find in backwoods area of Walker.
There was also no train overpass on Siegen. If I didn’t leave for school in time I would get stuck behind the train and be late.

In the late 80s, Fast Track Hamburgers was a little chain of drive thru only burger joints right here in town owned by Dr. Richard Hill. The first one was at Perkins and Siegen. A burger combo with fries and a drink was $1.97.
A few of the iconic buildings with the double drive thru windows are still standing. One is on Burbank near Gardere, another is at the corner of Airline Hwy and Pecue lane, now "Chicky Sandos". Cane's took over a few of them including Drusilla at I-12 which is still in operation.
Last I heard you could still get a FT burger at the gas station on Hwy 22 a mile or so from the Sunshine Bridge.

It was quite common to go into Murphy’s and see an entire counter covered with nickel beers.

No shite...Yea my earliest memories I can recall of that strip was Giovanni's, Video Village and Tik Toc shoe repair. Video Village would let us rent whatever we wanted (including Faces of Death) as 12 year olds

In Central too. Corner of Sullivan at Greenwell Springs. It's now a Poboy Express.

You could be downtown with little worry about being robbed, shot, knifed or beaten.

I will drive anywhere to get a Fast Track burger. For those of us not familiar, can you be more specific about the actual location of the gas station on Highway 22 near the Sunshine Bridge? Thank you.
