“Colors” with Sean Penn was the first film I can distinctly remember seeing him in. He was the wise veteran beat cop mentoring the young eager hot head rookie cop in gang (Crips v. Bloods) infested south central LA.

I’m sure there was something before that one, but for some reason it’s the one that first came to mind. Probably because of his analogy about a young bull and an old bull being on top of a hill and the young bull wanting to run down the hill to frick one of the cows. The old bull says to the young let’s walk down and frick them all. Or something along those lines.

RIP Bob Hodges.
