Other than 14 days to stop the spread, Never has there been an end metric that we were trying to attain except for maybe eliminating the virus which is obviously unattainable.

Rt of 1 means one infected person infect 1 other person. When greater than 1, cases continue to increase and less than 1 they will decrease.

It's the average number of transmissions by each COVID case. If it goes below 1, cases will decrease. The lower the better.

I was told, according to that crying Our Lady of the Lake woman, there's no more beds and we're all going to die.

So which one is it?!

There is an “available” bed issue at OLOL. They don’t have enough nurses apparently. I’ve heard that nurse staffing has been an issue in La for sometime but I’m sure the current situation has exacerbated the problem.

Gosh it’s almost like humans have an innate way to get immunity from a virus without an immunization

It’s because of the mask mandate from last week.

I don’t care about cases. I care about hospitalizations and especially deaths.

Ok, pick other states in the drop down that don't have mandates and tell me what you find. TN looks about the same, though volume wise I don't think it got as bad.

Obviously the last 4 days of masks ended this thing.

You’re short-sighted. Less cases will result in less hospitalizations and less deaths - even though both are lower in terms of per case capita this time around.

I think he's right sighted.

As you say, the correlation isn't nearly as useful and it will get less useful over time. Should get rid of case counting now.

It’s still incredible useful even if it changes. A reduction in case load will always result in a reduction in hospitalizations and deaths. This is true for the common cold.

And we could see the curve of the R-naught back in the beginning of July signaling a slow down in the spread despite a complete lack of state mandates

He will look at it that cases came down because of him, not that Rt was already on a downward trend.

The fact is that most people only see cases have zero clue about Rt

Same set of events occured before the initial mask mandate and they claimed the only reason cases dropped was due to masks.

So mask will be the reason the cases go down not because of the mask but because there is no more infection going around. I hate John bel for manipulating us
