I average like 3 beers a month, so it’s pretty much a non issue for me.

How can no one here just have a couple of beers

Every day it’s someone saying they have to quit

Where’s the thread for those of us who can drink a beer without winding up shite creek the next morning

I’m right here I drink off and on

During the week I don’t drink as much, but I might have a beer, a glass of wine, or some whiskey on the rocks. But I have shite to do so I can’t get drunk every night - even on weekends. But I do like to get to that buzz level where everything is all right, read a book, and then go to sleep.

Do you want me to start the thread?

Anyone else just decided to go sober 100% and how’s that going? Was social settings an adjustment? That’s the only time I drink now anyway.

This guy.

I don’t miss it at all and to the contrary I love waking up every morning on my A game and ready to get shite done.

Thinking you need alcohol at every social gathering is just clever marketing from beer/wine companies. I wish I had never touched alcohol. I would have gone down a much more successful path. Trying to get my son who is 18 to not start down the road with drinking.

I do a 90 day detox every 18 months or so. Every time I do it, I wonder why it’s so hard not to. Every bit of life feels better without booze.

Health aside. Anyone ever truly think about the financial drain it is?

Go to any sporting event/concert. You’re $30 in the can before you’re even feeling remotely buzzed. It’s such a waste of money. I can spend that $30 on a shirt to support the band I’m seeing or just buy better seats for the game knowing I don’t need to budget for booze.

haha I did this on NYE like 5 years ago and it was, in fact a great life move

I'm oblivious to so much

I’m sure I’ve spent between 25-50k on alcohol in my 35 odd years of drinking. Had I invested that money instead id probably have 300-400k. So yeah, it’s a substantial investment.

This will get buried in the thread……

But I agree that many in this board need to stop drinking and drugging all together. They cannot deal with it

I for one am a person who drinks a little bit every day. I work all day at the resort/golf course and when I come home I’m have a beer or scotch… I make dinner and hang with the family…. But I enjoy a relax cocktail after work.

I also am ok having a couple beers on the weekend while watching football or hoops…

I get it…. I wake up with a hangover at times…. But what exactly is going on that all these bars are just going to Arnold Palmers all of a sudden?

Seems like more of the pussifiication of America

I read a stat that in the mid 90s over 1/2 of high school men had drank alcohol…. Now it’s like 17%

Also read the same stat regarding sex

So I think that overall our men our becoming much more involved in tea and bullshite than beer and women.

I personally will not jump
On that wagon

Does that “roadmap” lead you to a random website where you lie through your teeth to hopefully impress people you don’t know and will never meet?
Maybe you should start drinking and stop being a troll.

Havent had a drink since February and am proud to be totally sober. Had little over 2 years before that but let work stress get to me and I regretted it once I done it. I know the rest of my days will be 100 percent sober and I'm better from it. I drank too much when I did drink

Agree re: then and now. I really don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing.
I lean towards it being a good thing that kids aren’t as wild now.

This is the problem .

People like you and your attitude is why many people never quit their destructive behavior and often lose a lot in terms of jobs, relationships et al.. Im not saying *everyone* falls in that bucket, but your mindset needs to die out in a hurry.. nothing “pussy” about choosing to be clear-headed and 100% engaged with life without the fog or buzz of alcohol or drugs .

I’m going to do dry January. Not because I’m a lush. But because I’m setting some fitness goals for the year and this will be a good first step. I’ve done it a couple of times before.

Heavy binge drinker. Went sober because of health issues. 99% of the time, it's not a problem. Social settings were a challenge. Work related social functions, tailgating, family holidays. I just bring my yeti cup, fill it with tea, or Dr pepper, and keep my time with drunks to a minimum. With the yeti, everyone assumes it's booze. Keeps questions to a minimum.

Good luck. Happy New Year.
