There’s nothing cheap about today’s used truck market. I’ve seen a few 2019-21 Tundras hit the market with low miles and nice trim packages for $45k to over $50k and disappear in 2 days

I’m 6’5 so midsize trucks feel more cramped than my ES. I want room.

That ES you have has a 5Star rating from IIHS, and as you know, it's good for a lot more miles.
Perfect for the new driver, not so perfect for a 6'5" driver.

You already know the smart thing is to buy a new Toyota Camry and put 200K miles on it. But you know, you don’t always have to do the smart thing in life. You want a truck, you want a truck. And in today’s market, you WILL overpay for that truck. The days of “good deals” on trucks are over. So, why not treat yourself and buy the truck. Sounds like you have the cash. What the hell. Do it.

Can't have a big dick without a big truck.

It’s my second one and I’ve gotten used to it. They’re the best vehicles ever made IMO. That’s why I’m hesitant about a truck because I’m not used to spending money to fix shite which seems to be just part of owning some of these vehicles.
But when you need a load of dirt..or firewood..or lumber..or a new appliance…or just to haul a bunch of shite to the dump, an ES has limited capability.

Sounds to me that you've made some good choices in life so far. If this is a splurge you find worth it then go for it.
Like I said it wouldn't be my choice but I'm not in your shoes.

If this bends you out of shape, do not shop for used bass boats.

Great News! Sounds like you don’t need a truck or to spend 46k!

If I end up spending what it looks like I’m going to have to for a used truck I’ll be fishing from a canoe…but a least I can haul my canoe to the lake without having to borrow somebody’s truck.

Yeah..screw it. I can’t get my head around paying that kind of money for a used Ford…even if it has power running boards and a panoramic moon roof.
I’ll end up getting a ‘21 GX with a trailer hitch or a 2020 Tundra that gets 14 mpg.

We don't have trash pick up where I live, so I have to have an 8 cylinder truck when I'm hauling 3 trash bags to the dump.

None of his thread has anything to do with practicality.
I’ve noticed that the people that comment about not needing a truck also all have been driving them for decades.

I have and it’s come in handy many times despite not needing it for work. Ironically I have a 2016 f150 with 90k on it. I paid 28 for it after trade in back in 2016.
I won’t be buying another in this market. The usefulness doesn’t outweigh the cost at this point.
