Flu's are always the worst in critical election years.

That was me ... until I got the flu and felt like I would die.

Got the shot every year since. I still got the flu one more time (that I know of), but it was very mild and lasted just a few days. I was shocked when the doc said I tested for flu because it was so minor compared to the shotless flu.

You do know we react differently to each and every variant....if at all.

I never got in a car wreck and needed my seatbelt but I wear it anyway because it's better than the alternative...

Influenza from 1918 called and if you don’t give them your Xbox live login information, they are going to kill you, both your grandmothers, your dad, and two of your siblings.

I got tamiflu. None of the local pharmacies carry xofluza in stock so it would be a days wait. A bird in the hand, etc.

Still feel like shite this evening but have had intervals of not feeling quite as bad. Maybe I've seen the worst of it.

I’m on day 9 now. Better but the cough is deep, hacking and miserable. Fever broke on day 3 but this low grade nausea persists. I have FluA and am told this years flu shot is ineffective for it.
Never heard of Xofluza. Can you get it to have on hand in case?

Adults had the flu when I was a kid. No one complained about it. They took pain meds, got sleep, stayed hydrated and went back to work before they were better.

But your still posting….sure your “sick”

So your saying as long as OP’s brain and thumbs can function, he is excluded from the possibility of being considered sick. Strong take, doc.

Well yeah the flu can be fatal. It is no joke.
Typically, not.

It's the other complications like pneumonia that can develop and do you in.

Just a point of clarification because people may not understand.

The Flu Shot does not prevent you from getting the flu.

I read so many times that people don’t understand this.

The flu shot gives your body a head start on fighting the flu. It may be a big enough head start that you don’t even have symptoms and then don’t pass it on to someone else, or maybe you have just minor symptoms.

Or maybe the flu shot that year is a dud and you have a bad case of the flu, and you swear to never get the flu shot ever again.

I’ve always heard that if you get the flu shot it may not prevent you from getting flu but you will have a milder case and recover faster.

I think that’s a crock of shite.

Do not take xofluza if you are allergic to xofluza.

I mean it’s not. That’s exactly what it does by eliciting an immune response to help teach your system how to attack it if you do get it.

The variable is they have to predict what will be the dominant strain each season, so that affects how effective it can be from year to year. This year there was a mutation of the A strain (made it harder hitting). But the shot likely still lessened the severity to keep folks out of the hospital.
