I don’t mind any demographic as long as…
1. They’re pro-USA.
2. They pull their own weight.
3. They don’t blame white males for anything
4. They’re not actively trying to congregate in particular cities and states in order to take over the culture and seize political power.

I’m social friends with John, at least I was back when we were both single in Atlanta
Isn't he/wasn't he friends with Southside Steve Rickman from 96 Rock The Regular Guys?

He was a good closer and ultimately right. It is funny that Kenny Powers from East Bound and Down is loosely based off of his personality.

He was a monster pitcher.
He was ahead of his time. Those comments were all correct.
He still looks like he could rip someone's head off.
I liked him then and I like him now.

Anybody who doubted him should is more than welcome to admit in this thread they were wrong.

Danny McBride and John Rocker went to the same high school. He wrote the Eastbound and Down character based on Rocker.
I think that’s pretty accurate.

Have watched this 2 or 3 times since it came out. Pretty fascinating.

Pearlman is a far left nutjob. He has a youtube channel where he continues to spew venom and BS on athletes he perceives to be conservative or white privileged (Will Clark, Curt Schilling, etc.) while shilling for "misunderstood heroes" like Doc Ellis. He's pretty much hated by everyone in baseball. I imagine some sportswriters hate him too for breaching a certain trust and erecting a chinese wall between players and the media.
Sucks, because he’s written some damn good books.

Context for those that don’t know of John Rocker
He still defends that statement. I respect a man for saying what he thinks, and standing by it despite all the criticism. It was a minor sports story in the 90s. It would have been all over the mainstream news today.

He may have written the character about Rocker, but McBride went to high school in Virginia

So he went back to Atlanta after the World Series and season was over and after all of the players and front office personnel were on holiday break with the intent of finding a scandal. Rocker, idiot that he is, obliged him. SI used the "story" to draw attention and sales for their special "end of the century" double issue. It was an early example of manufactured outrage.
