Are you getting a divorce because your wife didn't like you being gone all the time? I guess the money's not worth it.

Anyone who writes “350” or some derivative should be banned. It was funny 10 years ago and 5,785,439 usages ago.

Based off this criteria, I would just say $100,000. 6 digits is always a decent salary in almost every part of the country. Way too much is some areas, but not enough in others. You can support a family on that being the sole provider, if you had to.
This is not a minimum salary, the above can be done on less. You asked for "Good", not "Min" or "Great".

Depends on your lifestyle and spending habits. I make close to $500k/year but my lifestyle hasn’t really changed since I made $100k/year. Just more in savings.
Same question could be asked for retirement. It’s all about your selfishness and desires on how much you want to keep driving that $80k coffin to a job you hate so you can afford to get there
People laugh at my Tundra with 250,000 miles and the fact I’ve paid cash for all my possessions but I have f*** you money.in the bank so I don’t do anything at 48 that I don’t want to do
It would be more believable if you never broke character....

Happiness is not determined by how much you make.
There is a tipping point though where income goes up enough to make you pretty comfortable if you are not expanding expenses. Probably in the 175k to 200k range.
Once you get past that you start changing your house/cars/lifestyle too much and things get tight again.
My expenses are super high and if I told you that side of the story you would think I was insane. But we save more than 50% of what we make and I don't feel the need to cut expenses just so I can save a bit more each month.

I'd say around $60k on average across the country. It'd be tight for a family but a lot of families live on that or less. Single and in a pretty inexpensive area probably around $40k. If we are talking about a family and in New York or something probably at least $150k just to keep the lights on but a young family of 4 could make ends meet in Augusta Ga on $60k...it'd be tight though. My son is single and lives in Buckhead and makes a little under $70k and he stays broke like most 26 year olds but he lives large.

What does the OT consider a “good” salary?
Median U.S. individual salary is around $60,000/yr. Median U.S. household income is $83,700/year.
So the reality is anything north of $60K is a good salary. I'd guess the OT would plug in a 6-digit number though.

In LA I would say $150k with a family of 4 should allow you to accomplish all your goals
I'd think that was about right. Would allow for a pretty decent home, a couple of normally priced vehicles, a couple of sane vacations a year and some retirement savings. That's about what it'd be in Georgia I suspect....you wouldn't be a baller but you wouldn't be rolling pennies to make the rent....

I know for me and mine if we make $300k a year we will spend $300k and if we make $35k a year we will spend $35k. Not exactly, between the 2 of us we are putting 25% in retirement savings and saving about 10% extra for retirement but eerythiing else is spent on wine, women and song LOL. We fricked around and got used to spending massive amounts of money when I owned a business and my wife handles billion $ contracts several times a year and multi-million $ contracts daily so we are both very unaware of huge numbers following a dollar sign....and that's a problem. My niece makes about $100k and needed tires this weekend and was SHOCKED that she needed $1400. I can remember being there but it is still sort of interesting to see how people view money.....my wife hired a cleaning crew to do a "deep" clean this weekend for $900 and didn't think twice about it....while our niece is shitting bricks over tires...all about perspective

Including your wifes salary, absolutely. You don't need to make that on your own though

A good salary? $175,000.

If you're buying a house now, you'll have a $2000 mortgage for a starter home. You'd need an $85,000 salary to be able to afford that and not live paycheck to paycheck.

This is the OT, where everyone is comfortably wealthy but also frets about buying a used truck
