re: Why do middle aged white men love vest so much?

Typically they are successful people that make 2-3x the average household income, so they do not care what other people think about their style. Similar to skaters that wear flatbills or people that wear hats backwards (no practical use unlike vests). It’s just a style they like.

Vests are, by their definition, sleeveless. Sounds like they're not the only thing that's stupid.

Midtown Uniform or gtfo!

Because they aren't "stupid" and are very functional, particularly if you layer like I do.
If you live in the South, I can understand why you may not wear them but they are very nice in the Northwest

But why warm just your core in hopes it will also warm your extremities? Why not include sleeves in the process? It makes so much more sense to wear a sweater or pullover.
There couldn't ever be a scenario where it is not quite warm enough to wear only a long sleeve shirt but it's a little too warm for a jacket? That never happens in the part of the country with mild winters?

Clown question, baw.

I wear one to cut the wind when I play golf. Hate the restriction of a jacket.

One of the few acceptable answers on why one would wear a sweater vest.
The dummies that wear them work in an office. I don't know where these 40-50 degree offices are.

Idk, but anytime I see someone with them on, they are usually massive tools. Not sure if the two are related...

I brought the vest back in 1999 so you’re welcome
I probably have 20 in my closet

Tell me about a sleeved vest.

It’s a light weight concealment garment for a firearm.

So what's up vest baws?
In the winter, its the go to outerwear item for me. In Louisiana a vest is all you need....even today, wearing a vest and a long sleeve button down and I'm very comfortable. The one I wear is the Jos A Bank / David Leadbetter Golf Vest. It was a Christmas gift to me about 5 years ago. It hung in my closet for 2 winter seasons and I never once put it on. For some reason, the next winter I put it on and have worn that vest ever since. Similar to this except mine has a top zip pocket for my phone.
It doesn't confine me, allows me to be mobile, can move arms, drive with it on, work at my desk with it on - the perfect outerwear for LA.

Perfect for Louisiana winters. Temperatures drastically change so it's good for the cold, but also gives air for your pits to breathe.
This isn't the only demographic that wears it you ignorant hillbilly frick.

To whom?

Rocking the 800g north face today with gloves...had the light weight fratagonia vest yesterday when it was milder.
Don't like arm constrictions, I'm hot natured and my pits need to breathe...plus nothing says "I'm 40 and crushing it in my upper-middle professional class circles"

Because a nice vest up top and a pair of Chuck Norris Action Jeans below gives us maximum flexibility and keeps us ready to drop a Commie at a moments' notice.

I started buying North Face vests in college so I could get into Bogies. It was kind of a secret code we had with the bouncers so they would know who was in a Frat and who wasn't.

What kind of jackets are you wearing? Straight jackets?

I drop in on my banker during lunch once or twice a week. If it's not raining, I walk over. Today was cold and breezy, but the sun was shining. A coat would have been too much. The vest was just right.
