One of the things I like about wearing a watch is I can subtly look down at it to hint to people I am bored of them.

Lmao. Look at all the downvotes! TD is the perfect place for this question.

Conspicuous consumption, just like the ladies in their giant Yukons(my daughter has one, but she gets that from her mother). Same guys will trash the brothers with all the flashy jewelry.

Had a high school buddy get divorced and he had over $100K in watches that he had to eat in the property settlement.

Speaking of desperate for attention, what’s with the excessively loud vehicles? Look at meeeee!

Much quicker buzz, broseph. I had to drink a whole sixer of Schaefer light from Death Valley shell to get the same buzz as one Ghost in the Machine.

My Fitbits would quit working after a year. So far Apple is still going after 2, though the charge only lasts a day and a half.

I like the watch my wife (no pix) got me for my birthday. It only tells time in analog mode. It does show the day and date, but the numbers are so small that I don't even bother. Sorry my watch offends you, but FO!

I wear an inexpensive Seiko sports watch with a black silicone band and often receive compliments about it, even from young people.

Turntables, fountain pens, and automatic (or mechanical) watches are a joy to use and generally better than the things that have replaced them.

A proper watch will be a store of wealth and is a very rational purchase. A Daytona purchased at retail is worth twice the at price in the secondary market.

There is a whole lot of insecurity in this thread. The first page alone stinks of it.

I was with my grandfather when he bought his last Rolex back in '89. It was a presidential and he paid $8,000.

That same model they sell today is now $52,000.

He gave it to me before he passed. I took it to the jeweler to get it serviced. The watch has a special bark finish on the links, and a unique bezel. The guy said that it is unique and is coveted by collectors.

I would never sell it. Its a reminder of my grandfather and the sacrifices he made to ensure his family lived a good life for generations to come.

Its a hobby for enthusiasts.

I don't know but I don't care if a guy wants to buy an expensive watch. People have the right to buy what they want with their money.

It's jewelry for men. I don't wear watches but they do add to a look.
