Add, “So,” at the beginning of every sentence and, “riiiight” uptalked at the end, and a little vocal fry, and flog my ears with a flaming spiked mace.

I think I first noticed this phenomenon amongst fellow Gen X-ers on Nickelodeon programming back in the 80s. Seems to have started up in Canada, or near the US/Canada, border and trickled southward. It ranks right up there with beginning a conversation with, "So...," as far my list of pet peeves goes.

It's not just the younger generation. Our generation had some true idiots that apparently polluted the gene pool.

It’s called up speak. It’s annoying as hell and seems ignorant like they are hedging their statement and asking a question.
it goes back to the '70s at least

once it got connected to women via its use by valley girls, feminazis immediately came out of the woodwork to defend it

Another one I've noticed with younger women and women trying to act young, they aren't pronouncing the soft A sound in A words with soft A's. They've replaced it with an I, and it sounds annoying and midwestern.

Camp is kimp.

Campus is kimpus.

The campus of Amarillo College is the kimpus of Emirillo College.

If Gov. Brian Kemp had Gov. Brian Kemp Camp, the name of the camp would be Kimp Kemp.

Martin Milner has this accent in the 1955 film Mr Roberts, playing a character from Alabama.

I hate it. And the girls sound like they have something in their throat and they’re on Xanax. Intersperse every word with like and umm and it just makes these kids sound so stupid.

Seinfeld’s mom and George Costanza are both guilty of this.

I’ve noticed people stopped pronouncing the 1st “r” in “forward.” It’s now “foward.” Dunno why it bothers me so much but it does.

I guess I am lucky in that I haven't heard this. Now that I'm aware of it, I probably will though. Thanks.

All these trendy teen things are easy to get rid of. Just start doing it around them. If you are doing it, it will instantly be labeled lame and they will stop.

It works bruh!
