I'm Independent and I'll answer.
The reason I'm Independent is because the Republicans in Congress are a bunch of do nothing d-bags as evident by Trumps first term where they had the ability to do away with Obamacare and they didn't. Among a million other things.
To answer your question on the current state. I think we are doing amazing. Geopolitical wise; we have broken the back of China, Russia, and Iran by taking control of all of the oil from Venezuela. Which is huge (70% of China's oil imports come from Venezuela, and this was during our sanctions!). That move alone is going to do wonders. Not to mention how we curb stomped China's defense systems during Maduro's capture.
Private sector jobs are up. The trade deficit is down (hence more private sector jobs).
Fraud is now being broadcasted and investigated. Hopefully it leads to RICO actions and the people in charge are dealt with.
As for the midterms. Hopefully redistricting happens with a bunch of states, and conservatives get a ton more House seats. As for voting, I think midterms will play out a lot like the 2025 election.
The Republican Party has failed me on so many levels over the years. I'm Independent because I'm sick of being lied to. Not that the Democrats don't lie. Their lies are terrible, but it messes a person up more being lied to by the people that they want to trust.
I will say this, I have never voted for a Democrat in any election (federal/state/local). And, going by how the current Dems are, probably never will. Communism is one of the scourges of the world.
The Republican Party needs to amputate the RINO's and get back to Constitutional governing. If they do this, than I will gladly rejoin the Republican Party.

Technically I'm an independent, but I don't vote for Democrats.

I consider myself an independent. Not registered with any political party. I do align mostly with conservative values.
Trump is abrasive, egotistical but is doing some good things for the country. His style is abrupt as he is trying to turn a large ship quickly. Country has gone from ditch to ditch over last decade or so. Distance between ditches has gotten much wider.
We have an older population sitting at home watching 24 hour news entertainment. We have a younger population informed via social platforms. Opinions, views are being manipulated. I’m guilty of being caught up in those as well.
There were two good posts today. One was regarding IT tech professional explaining how 1/3 of social media posts with certain keywords aren’t from authenticate accounts or bots. Initiating posts to further some cause.
2nd post was regarding an author CS Lewis. What I took away was the more we try to be good or please people the more we lose our objective virtues. A lot of truth in this statement. Folks need to step back and really think about why or why not they are supporting immigration policies and what’s legal or illegal. We surround ourselves with folks of similar opinions and at some point we lose our own objective virtues.

It is a shame but there’s no cross over

Trump is doing everything I voted for.

I will never vote for a blood sucking democrat. They have turned into a communist organization. Could vote Independent if it was the right guy. Heck Trump is not even a traditional Republican.

It would dumb to be independent in today's world as there are only 2 sides:
Liberals and Normies.

Was a registered Democrat from 1996 until 2016 when I changed affiliation to Independent, where I remain. I am definitely conservative but describe myself as a "Constitutional minarchist".
GOPe voters are bickering amongst themselves. The factions created by "influencers" like Owens, Fuentes, Tatum and Shapiro aren't helping. The TPUSA movement amongst the youth is definitely (and unfortunately) struggling to find a way forward without Charlie.
Dims are fricking lunatics. I do not understand their voters. Their leadership is even worse, considering the approval rating of the DNC is south of 20% and they're tripling down on the most unpopular policies in American history.
Midterms should be a sweep for the GOPe but they've spent the first year deliberately dragging their feet on codifying 47's agenda, and aside from very few such as Tim Burchett and Anna Paulina Luna, the overwhelming majority of them are still NeoCon RINO warpigs that would rather throw the Midterms and return to being the controlled opposition minority where they can screech about what dims are doing that they'd have prevented if only they were in power again.
So yeah, pretty much I don't know what the hell is going to happen any more and I won't embarrass myself in postulating and hypothesis or guess.

I’m an unaffiliated voter.
Dude, our country is about to catch on fire. When that happens, the ruling party gets voted out. That’s why our country is about to catch on fire. They did the same shite before. This is by design.

I used to be a Republican but went independent after growing disgusted with the party's leadership. Currently I am pleased with the job the current administration is doing. I hope the left is humiliated in the midterms. Perhaps they will follow the examples of Ellen Degenerate and George Looney and leave the country.

Too tough to predict at this time.
