More money than she was worth on the open market, especially with benefits.

Yeah... this. It wasn't always this way. And many of these jobs won't pay salaries today competitive to the top market positions [e.g. Google, Facebook, etc.]. But then, most people don't-get / can't-get those jobs anyway. What the government has done is to raid small business employment ranks.

Then, over the past 30 years, our government has swollen as an employer.

Unfortunately, I've watched several people I've known flock to federal, state and university positions [solely] because of the benefits and absolute security.

Time to true-up.

Yes, but according to statistics there was about a 40% chance she stopped doing that prior to divorcing him.

When viewed through the lens of statistics the gen z guys who never get married (MGTOW) are the logical ones and the guys marrying these 4th wave feminist social media addicted women in America and Western Europe are the chumps.

yeah stopped reading there. People work to get paid. This "public service" nonsense has to stop.

I work for the fed gov and do some decent things for Louisiana at times; but I do it because I get paid and receive decent benefits. The public service crap is a bunch of nonsense.

Why do single women with kids get so much recognition? I’ve raised my son alone for almost 8 years starting at 8 months. Was at his basketball final game last weekend and started talking with another dad, his wife passed 2 years ago and he has two kids 8-9. We exchanged numbers and I just sent him this article. Such a cultural difference between male/female single parents.

They could still be together, happily, if she had used her head.

Single dads don't need daily affirmations from other single dads on social media.

She's very unhappy with the idea that if she wants to be a divorced single mom girl boss with a good job that's easy good paying, and has great benefits, that she will need to go to work.

Nah. She’s unhappy that she now won’t be able to have a FT job where she “works” 9-3 (assuming her kids are in school) and not have to hire a baby sitter.

These whining federal workers are starting to remind me of that owner of a private jet who was ashamed that it wasn't nicer and begged Steve Martin for money in The Jerk:

I do NOT feel sorry for her, as a single parent who raised my daughter alone I had to deal with daycare, finishing my MBA, working full time in a shitty retail job after I got laid off from working at a medical university when the president was caught laundering money from the board. I sure as shite wouldn't have gone running to the news to get a woe is me article written. Suck it up lady ffs.

its crazy how women today can't have a thought without blasting it all over social media. It's no wonder younger men are turning away from marriage. It's hard enough without having to deal with that kinda shite too

I bet it is much, much higher than that. Lots of married women love to brag on social media or in public about how they withdraw from their husbands and refuse to try and meet his needs. It is a badge of honor for millions of married women. I lived through it. Humiliating their husbands or having their husbands beg them for it is what gets them off.

If/when my son decides to get married, I am going to have a loooooong talk with him. May not be needed as he was an astute observer of his parent's separation. He likely knows and understands the risks he will be taking as a man, but he is also not likely aware of the item we discussed above on top of everything else.

Choosing the correct female to marry and procreate with now IF you are a RESPONSIBLE MALE is the most important choice you can make in life. It will make or break your entire career, family goals, and retirement goals.

All of this is absolutely true.

I suspect that much of it stems from hormonal issues that women freak out about if mentioned, but just like men who age and lose testosterone, women age and their hormones get out of whack.

And the issue with hormones is that they can cause a woman who seems like an angel to turn into someone else completely as their bodies evolve with time. So even the smart marriage can turn into a suicide pact for reasons outside the guys control.

So just like men who turn into couch potatoes because their T is gone, many women have imbalances that cause them to act erratically and lose or spike desire in wildly unpredictable ways.

There’s also a major issue in basic human desire where studies show the things that cause women to be attracted to a man sexually are in some cases antithetical to a healthy relationship with children. So the things you did to attract her go away so we can become good dads and that causes her desire to drop because we’re too accessible, too child focused or the “flame” goes out when exposed to routine and life stress.

The problem is men refuse to talk about this and confront the issues so it gets worse with each generation. I have too many friends who have been divorced over this or coworkers who melted down on business trips because of these issues for it to not be endemic.

I bet the divorce rate would plummet if men fixed their T levels and women had their hormones checked yearly.

What is the point of this? To hate one some random stranger you will never encounter in your life? Just weird. Why are you so invested in her?

The downfall of many marriages after children take priority and early menopause hits. But it is all dad's fault.

She wrote an OpEd in a major publication about her government job that is under fire from the Trump administration. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but that’s pretty big political news these days and this is a political board.

Article doesn't say that either. She doesn't love paying thousands for daycare and it stresses her out as a single mom. I get that. And she doesn't come off as entitled or obnoxious.

How dare you read the article and comment on the actual content. We hate women here! Unless they get a lot of plastic surgery and love Trump like Kristi Noam.

She's writing about herself. She, herself, is not news. OP framed the whole thread to ridicule this person because he hates women.

This is a political board, not a gossip or cat fight board.

Women who don’t go to work and want more freedom to sit at home with children either have a husband or get on welfare

I know women who make up to 6 figures in the private sector largely working remote so that they can be at home more. They also have working husbands.

If you know you want to be home for your kids (admirable quality) but don’t want to survive on the income of just your spouse, it’s smart to find a flexible job.

And as long as the job gets done, who the frick cares if you’re physically in the office.

Archaic mindset.
