How did he screw up insurance for independent contractors?
Well dummy it's about 400% more expensive, the deductibles are 3 x as high and the copays are as well.
So you are paying 4 x what you were prior to Hussain Obama and getting nothing but catastrophic coverage.
And everyone is bitching about it so what did he do ? NOTHING

Some.
Most know the only way it can work is to ration care.
Push abortions and euthanasia - since prenatal/infant care and end of life care are huge cost drivers.

Obamacare made it worse for me. I work for myself and pay almost $1200 a month for a BCBS HMO policy in TX. I also have a VIP doctor that I pay above this amount to be able to see at my convenience. Obamacare is a tax increase to me.

Is healthcare in Singapore good or bad?
When you’re 90% Han/Malay and rigorously enforce demographics to maintain this you can do great things.
Who knew?

Then you admit the problem is not the health care bill per-se which is all I am saying. We have to be tougher on people.
You can speak in all of the "we have to do better, be tougher, demand more, and then we can have high quality free healthcare like Singapore (which has the size and population of the greater New York City area)" platitudes all you want, but it's still apples to oranges and it's still nonsense. We have lots of supposed "conservatives" on this board that would howl and scream if we really pulled back on the entitlements and were "tougher," to quote you, on Americans (of all people to be "tougher" on regarding healthcare), let alone the rest of society sucking the taxpayer tit.
Get real with this Euro trash horse shite.
Actual serious solutions are needed, and one of the first ones is to abolish the atrocity called Obamacare, then start to systematically stop the process of Americans and Americans only subsidizing the cost of healthcare, R&D, and pharmaceutical research so that other countries can stop being blood sucking leeches on the bank accounts of Americans and our health insurance policies, and it's not just healthcare subsidies: It's defense, infrastructure, NGOs and all the other handouts we give to the world while you spit in our face and call us names. Our money and our research and technology stays here at home first and foremost.
You go try your unrealistic, boomer "be tougher on Americans" strategy and see how well the healthcare outcomes for a country the size of Europe does in comparison to a tiny little speck of dust across the world with completely different demographics and logistics, and we over here will stay pragmatic about it. Abolish obamacare and begin pulling back all subsidies for the planet and pay for and prioritize us and us alone. The rest of you can line up for a chance to immigrate legally when your "free" healthcare turns into a death sentence.

Health care and health insurance are two separate things.
Health insurance is expensive bc the government is involved in it AND because insurance companies are evil AF

Lots of dumb people believe this. Why would you claim they don’t?
The phrase “healthcare is a human right” reflects that ethos and you can find that everywhere.

Healthcare is not Health Insurance, just like Car care is not Car Insurance

And because the US Americans are fat and spoiled.

Don’t make easily falsifiable claims. Then people will have more in-depth arguments.
If you say “we don’t need them,” but you’re paying them thousands of dollars, you sound dumb.
You meant to say something else. Like “they’re meanies.” Or “I don’t understand insurance.” Or even “I don’t believe that they operate with moral correctness.” (I would somewhat agree with the last one.)

What do people with insufficient funds to cover the cost of their care deserve?
Do they deserve bare bones care?
Do they deserve the same care as the person paying for their own care?
Do they deserve top-of-the line care, covering even elective surgeries and quality of living prescriptions?

It’s a rough spot. A for profit healthcare system has issues as does a government run system.

it works in Singapore where I have family
It’s not fair to compare another countries homogenous population to America’s. How many people in Singapore are free loaders who don’t work? You have 57 million people on disability in America who do not work. Bet those numbers aren’t even close in Singapore.
ETA: did the dirty work for you. Singapores disability percentage is 3%….

The way to fix healthcare is for Americans to stop being fat and unhealthy
If everyone simply exercised a little and cut out processed junk food healthcare costs would go down. Insurance premiums are high because we have too many people needing constant medical care. The healthy subsidize the costs of the unhealthy for the insurer and the number of unhealthy far outweigh the number of healthy people.

Americans are fat. That’s a whole other conversation.
Health Insurance is ridiculously expensive. You pay for your insurance, someone else’s insurance, and then the provider charges your insurance company more to cover the people who don’t have insurance.
Health insurance should be there for emergencies. It’s not a buyers club.
I have thoughts on how to fix-and it would start with repealing Obamacare which was the most absurd, unintelligible legislation ever enacted. It hasn’t fixed the problem, it just made it worse.

If you want the "opportunity" to get a healthcare plan, pay for it yourself. Nothing is stopping you. Quit grifting off of other people.
