Health Insurance is ridiculously expensive. You pay for your insurance, someone else’s insurance, and then the provider charges your insurance company more to cover the people who don’t have insurance.

I’ve had some success framing the discussion as “what is the best way to allocate finite resources?”

quote:Correct. It's a nifty system, but only possible because there is zero poverty, everyone pays in, and (most of all) people don't mind paying with their own money. . Three things we will never see here.
A quick Google search shows that Singapore forces people to pay into their version of HSAs. And then they do cost sharing.

Then you admit the problem is not the health care bill per-se which is all I am saying. We have to be tougher on people.
A lot tougher. Maybe we will start to see that. People are tired of progressives weaponized and toxic empathy.

I’m assuming this is tongue and cheek bc you are too smart to think this is any type of persuasive point.
quote:Absolutely. And it sucks for everyone when an insurance company tries to practice medicine without a license. Unfortunately, the cost of being a dependent isn't free. You give up freedom and choices.
nfortunately the clinical decision makers for insurance companies are some of the dumbest people I’ve ever had conversations with.

This is 100% illegal. If doctors are doing this, they will get absolutely crushed if those charts get audited. It’s really not worth the risk. ESP with Medicare bc they always pay and always pay on time. It’s only after the fact where they are like “oh we looked at these charts, in fact we shouldn’t have paid for alot of this stuff. So you now owe us 10M back.” It could absolutely cripple a practice.

What an example. So more of a police state and control over racial makeup.

Oh of course not, but I don’t consider being beloved “winning.” I consider making alot of money “winning”

be fixedby Tunasntigers92What's the underlying problem?
People believe that the government has a moral obligation to provide all citizens healthcare, but all citizens do not have an obligation to take care of themselves.
Way too many people do not take care of themselves. They are way over weight, they abuse their bodies, and they have poor life styles. When something goes wrong they look to the government for help.

So you’re saying if I go to the hospital with a broken leg Medicare will pay the hospital the exact same as my private insurance will?

Did you understand my post at all?
What I’m saying is doctor X cannot overcharge patient Y because he had to take care of patient Z who has no insurance. Period.

Okay. According to all of my googling and ChatGPTing it seems that Medicare pays significantly less(40-60% less) than what private insurance pays. Is that incorrect?

Not necessarily, it works in Singapore where I have family, Higher taxes, yes, but zero insurance payments, combined they pay less and get more.

So true. Because when anyone, anywhere thinks world class healthcare...they automatically think Singapore.

You think so? Roughly 45 million people get healthcare through the ACA.
And it is not actually government healthcare…
