Yah. They’re both going to pass.

I voted no on both. Not against new taxes but they should be the option when all resources are exhausted. And I know there’s plenty of waste in the C-P tax (and spending) structure.

Voted yes on MH and no on roads. Both look like they will pass easily. I would really like to see a rule that doesn't allow major ballot initiatives to get placed on off elections.

Of all the shite proposed amendments they put on every major election ballot they need to put one on that says proposed taxes can only be put on ballots with a presidential, gubernatorial, or midterm election on it.

They put them on random arse elections where the turnout will be arse percent and the only people who go vote are the few people who want it to pass.

Road tax was previously defeated at the polls, and so was a mental health tax; however, the powers that be keep coming back and with big money behind higher taxes this time it looks like they pushed it through.

I respect the vote and I hope in the long run that I was wrong and the administration takes care of our tax dollars.

i've been arguing this for years

the school board ones are the worst. they're experts at maximizing this very scheme

I would have to go back and check, but if I recall correctly, the MH tax came really, really close last time.

Only a fool would vote to give inept government more money. We have never ever had a revenue problem we have a spending problem. Giving crooks more of your hard earned money is never the answer.

Sad day, nothing will change except you’ll have less of your own money and government will waste more.

In East Baton Rouge Parish this century, the larger the turnout the higher percentage of Democratic votes you get. If the turnout was higher, it would pass more easily. The School Board and Councils are thinking like its 1980 looking for remote elections to put their proposals on.

the timing issue is one thing

but there should also be a ban (for a period of time) on bringing similar versions of defeated taxes back on the ballot

what's the point of having a vote if the government can just ram down the same tax increases every single time? it will eventually pass

It’s so sad that thisbwas literally their pitch. The flier with a fricking safe on it made me even more pissed that this was on the ballot.

Why wasn’t this on the major election a few weeks ago?

When did the public vote a roads tax down in EBRParish? The Council voted it down earlier this year and told the Mayor to come back with a more detailed proposal which she did. That second proposal is what we voted on today.

The exemption of food and medicine from sales taxes should be removed.

Maybe the frickheads will think twice about voting for an increase.
