I’ve barely said anything about my husband on here.
We are very opposite. He’s very into sports and he doesn’t know my opinion about Lane Kiffin or whatever his name is.
Cash bail isn’t extremely important to me. Married people don’t have to share all the same interests.

Much better to find a woman at church.
People say this, but I don’t think they understand how few single women go to church and how few social opportunities exist for single people within the structure of church services. It really isn’t a place for an adult to meet anyone you don’t already know and aren’t related to. Maybe it used to be, but it hasn’t been for decades.

Going to the wrong church.

I'm not close to MAGA, but I also don't have TDS.
With that, I appreciated when a woman outed herself as an AWFL. I knew to stay away.

To be clear, you’re against cash bail across the board or for non violent offenses where there’s no flight risk?

Guys. You can probably defeat this discrimination with the right profile pic.

My friend called me. “Hey, you’re on speaker. Boyfriend is in favor of cash bail.”
Me: “why?”
He said why not. I told him people who can’t afford bail (which in Louisiana, the median bail amount is only slightly less than the median annual salary) end up losing their jobs, houses/apartments and custody of their kids because they are forced for sit in jail for like half a year awaiting trial, often for some bullshite charge that gets dropped.
He agreed with the caveat of depending on the charge.
I have no idea how they got on the topic. She disagrees with my position about cash bail anyway. Americans love to detain poor people.

Not across the board. Discretion would be required. It would depend on the charge and circumstances.
ETA: When discussing eliminating cash bail, fears of increased crime resulting from the release of defendants are near-universally cited. Opponents believe that releasing individuals accused of crimes will inevitably result in increased violence and crime in their communities. To determine whether or not these fears are justified, data was analyzed
from jurisdictions with various bail reforms in place. Eight states—Alaska, Connecticut, Maine, Nebraska, New Mexico, New Jersey, New York, and most recently Illinois—have taken steps in this direction, either by significantly restricting the utilization of monetary bail, reducing the reliance on pretrial detention for minor offenses, or implementing both measures. [1] Additionally, several notable local
jurisdictions—such as Cook County (Chicago), Harris County (Houston), Philadelphia, Mobile (Alabama), New Orleans, and San Francisco—have followed suit.[2] After analyzing the impact of various
bail reforms in thirteen jurisdictions, Don Stemen and David Olson found that:
In six jurisdictions, violent crime decreased in the year after reforms. In all of these instances, it decreased more than the national average did in that year or decreased while the national average increased. In four jurisdictions, violent crime increased while the national average decreased in the same year. And in one place, violent crime increased but less than the national average
did.[3]
Ultimately, no discernible pattern could be identified in terms of increased or decreased crime rates as direct effects of implementing various types of bail reform.[4]

I wrote a whole research paper on this. In colonial America, bail was seen as a good alternative to pre-trial detention for non-capital offenses. The system has been abused, in my opinion, to benefit special interests and infringe on the rights of citizens.
On any given day, around 15,189 individuals are detained pretrial in Louisiana alone, resulting in taxpayers spending $794,232 daily, or approximately
$289,894,975.65 annually, to sustain the state's record-setting pretrial incarceration system.[2] In Louisiana, pretrial detention costs taxpayers nearly $290 million annually.[3] These costs are incurred to “detain people who are mostly low-risk, including many whose charges will ultimately be dropped.”[4]
What do we do with them as we wait for the trial?

Why would you be comfortable with that person being released on bail? If the argument is this person is too dangerous to be released awaiting trial - how would bail make sense?

I have faith that the innovative and corrupt leaders who govern this great state would come up with a new scheme to make up for it, and then some.

Lmao I had a girl say that “I should be shot in the head by any woman” that I tell they shouldn’t have the right to abort their baby. I like the discrimination, it’s an easy way to filter out the crazies. I see liberal, I know it would never work.

I spent 10 weeks in the Greek Isles during law school. I had moms trying to marry off their daughters. Not kidding at all. I’m not RC or EO but they didn’t need to know that and doubt they cared.
