I used to read The Economist. Not sure I consider it a reliable source of unbiased information. I wonder if they refer to all heads of state as Mr or Ms.
The Economist never refers to anyone simply by their last name.
They always use either their complete name, or Mr., Ms. or Mrs.
Doesn't matter if the person is a head of state or not.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice:
If you ask people about Iraq, what was the source of many of our casualties in Iraq, you’ll get estimates as high as 75 or 80 percent of them were due to Iranian-made roadside bombs.
And so they’ve been at war with us for a long time.

(Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump told Reuters during a telephone interview on Thursday that he backs the Kurds launching an Iran offensive.
"I think it's wonderful that they want to do that, I'd be all for it," Trump said.
When asked if the United States would provide or had offered air cover for any Kurdish offensive, Trump said: "I can't tell you that."

The ships are there, last I read 150 had dropped anchor on the ocean side, don't know how many are on the gulf side or how many in total are waiting to get in or out but that is what those little circles on your diagram represent.

The crying crocodile.
She lives a luxury life in Tehran, most likely IRGC daddy money. But presents herself as a normal Iranian.
One week she is attending a pro regime rallies calling on the annihilation of Israeli, another week she is discussing Khamenei’s “martyrdom” and need for revenge another week her house is blown up.
She must be one of IRGCwood’s top earners

Tankers can load UAE oil in the Gulf of Oman, there is a pipeline to a terminal there.
Tankers can load Arabian crude in the Red Sea at Yanbu. That's where the crude oil coming to the US has been loaded for decades.
The major issue is tankers stuck in the Arabian Gulf. There has been a moratorium on building new ones for several years and a shortage thanks to the UN, per John Konrad, owner of GCaptain

Based just off very minimal understanding of any sort of marine traffic, can someone explain if the Strait is actually closed? This screenshot is at 1115 CST. Sure seems to be a lot of ships still cruising along.
The straight was never closed. Llyod"s of London decided to cancel all of the insurance all of those vessels. Traversing through with zero insurance on vessels and cargo worth hundreds of millions of dollars was a non starter because the shipping companies would have to assume all of the risk. That is why Trump had us step in to begin underwriting the cargo vessels

A major problem is ships other than tankers. Lots of supplies on container ships go through the strait. Saudi Arabia had aluminum and rebar shipping out, and iron ore being shipped in to add to that.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir says Israel has crippled Iran’s air defenses and now dominates its skies.
“Israel has destroyed 80% of Iran’s air defense systems and achieved almost complete air superiority in the skies of Iran.”
“The Israeli Air Force has carried out 2,500 strikes and dropped over 6,000 munitions.”
“We have neutralized and destroyed more than 60% of the ballistic missile launchers.”

One underrated aspect that I've yet seen discussed is if the entrance of Iraqi Kurds causes the reorganization of the Iraqi PMF's, which are the militias loyal to Ayatollah Sistani, the most important Shia leader outside of Iran. The Iranians don't have direct control over these militias, and Sistani is someone who believes in the Iraqi nation, and thus has a more complicated relationship with Iran than one might think from the outside.
Theoretically, Iran does have access to able-bodied men from Lebanon, Syria, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and to an extent India (just from a pure population perspective), mostly Shia men who are somewhat poor (with the exception of Azerbaijan) and disaffected (again with the exception of Azerbaijan) but as long as this war retains a national rather than religious character, I don't think they will be able to mobilize these men.
