Well, now you have me wanting to dig into just which government employees need to use a highly politically biased news outlet for information to do their job.

If our government is relying on the media for information, we have even bigger issues to address.

Exxon is a private corp that can spend 20 percent of its revenue on subscriptions if it wants. No one cares but the shareholders.

Govt agencies are TAXPAYER FUNDED. Subscriptions to a biased “””news””” agency.. that is always sympathetic to the people buying those subscriptions (what a coincidence).

Are you really schilling for the us gov subsidizing a news agency? Effectively making it state funded media?

That what you want? You want this admin to purchase subscriptions to fox content?

Not shilling or supporting that practice at all. Cancel the subscriptions if they are costing the taxpayer that much money. Never argued otherwise if you follow the thread.

He really doesn’t. And that’s sad.

What is sad is your inability to follow an argument. The Exxon scenario was in response to a specific question.

For Democrats, yes. I mean it all depends on what your definition of "is" is.

Because I bet she's suggesting that any money received had no implications on their reporting. Anyone with a 2nd grade education knows thats utter BS.

Not subsides, it’s subscriptions. That’s (D)ifferent.

Politico is not saying no money from NGO which get the money from USAID. Politico is saying the money they got was from a service they provide (fee) not free tax payer dollars to write certain types of articles.

I could understand if maybe 10 employees at X agency needed a $10k annual subscription but there is no reasonable explanation for why 800 employees would all need that same subscription.

Why would a government agency need to read Politico's hot takes and analysis to make decisions about their own agency. Isn't that what the agency leadership is paid to do?

I am sure DOGE is able to see who was using the subscriptions and how often. My guess is 90% of them were never accessed after creating the login.

In September 2023, a staff assistant for the Center for Environment, Energy, and Infrastructure—part of USAID’s Bureau for Development, Democracy, and Innovation—purchased a subscription to E&E for $20,000. According to E&E, prices for its professional subscription packages typically start in the upper four-figure range and vary based on how many users have access to a subscription. Another subscription to E&E was purchased in September 2024 for $24,000 by the Center for Climate Positive Development—an office within USAID’s Bureau for Resilience and Food Security.

Even if you say that Trump's admin is wrong and Politico is not being paid off, this is still the discovery of a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars which is the entire purpose of DOGE. Nothing Politico is producing is worth a subscription in the upper four figures. And there is nothing they are providing that is so essential to the function of our government that taxpayers should be paying for it. You are not seeing the forest for the trees.

Conservatives are pissed about the waste and leftists are pissed that conservatives are finding the waste. I don't understand it. I really believe if given the option between a tax increase from a Democrat and a tax decrease from Trump, leftists would take the tax increase just so they don't have to give Trump credit for anything. And then they would bitch at Trump for the tax increase.

I’m interested in seeing these magazines subscription re-enlistment rates when employees are using their own money and not mine.

So you agree politico is lying but the question is how much?

Uhh you were comparing government employees having a left wing biased news outlet subscription to attorneys using west law. And stating it’s no issue… just a (taxpayer) expense for employees to have their biased news.

So yes. You are trying to make excuses and most certainly are shilling for them.

I would love to see how you and your ilk would have reacted if they were purchasing right wing media. Not really seeing those figures yet for some reason.

It’s absolutely true. Case in point.. look at the leftists still clinging to masks instead of giving in to the fact that the right was correct about their ineffectiveness.

Subscriptions that cost thousands of dollars though? Yeah, that's a big no for me dawg!

Not only do we need to cancel these subscriptions, but we need our government to ask for the bulk of that money back. These companies were not charging us fair market value for their subscriptions.
