frick Perot. He was a kamikaze candidate that wanted to take out George Bush. The bastard actually had a chance but dropped out of the race long enough for his poll numbers to drop and then reentered the race assuring Bill fricking Clinton got elected.

IDK, but he had one of the best quotes I've ever heard on taxes:
'I've paid enough taxes to get a front row seat to Utopia and I'm still waiting for the curtain to go up.'

The media and the bureaucracy would have tried to do to him what they did to Trump.
The media wasn't nearly as bad as today and there was no social media. Add in the fact Perot wasn't nearly as abrasive as Trump they would have had a harder time making him out to be the evil bad guy.
Not saying they wouldn't have tried. They certainly would have. Just nothing like Trump.

It was in one of his rallies.

I lost respect for him when he dropped out of the race. His pre election night rally was bonkers for the time. Must have played "Crazy" by Patsy Cline at least a dozen times.
I had dealt with people who worked for him.Very sharp intellect, you could not fool him. Admiral Stockdale also was one of the smartest guys in any room.

ANY rock could do better than Biden, but I will say I've thought a business man, a real money guy, could get this country straight.............like Trump did.
I could be wrong, but wasnt Trump a perot guy at one point?

Smarter than the highly esteemed Joe Biden?

Did anyone ever read On Wings of Eagles? How true is it?

Too bad he wasn't smart enough to hire a debate coach.

Pretty confident he would have resigned at the workload and frustration of the office. When he dropped his campaign the first time, he told Ed Rollins "When does it become fun again?". I don't think he was really prepared for a serious campaign. Also, he had some really bad ideas... the .50 cent a gallon federal gas tax on top of existing taxes. This was back when gas was just over a buck a gallon.
Bottom line.... 12 to 18 months in, he would have handed the keys to his Veep.

Well he was smart enough to know what Nafta was gonna do and built a shipping terminal in Texas because of it being passed and made bank.

Stockdale was a fricking man. He spent close to 7 years as a POW at the fricking Hanoi Hilton....he was the last man out. He was a brilliant man, taught Philosophy. He was messing with his hearing aide because Jane Fonda's friends had ruptured his eardrums during interrogation. Guarantee you that he was the smartest guy on that stage that night with intellectual giants like Quayle and Gore up there with him.
Perot was sharp as a tack as well and possessed uncanny business acumen. He was incredibly well read. But I think many on here would not necessarily like his approach to the Constitution. He said keeping it frozen in time would not hack it. Unlike Trump he could articulate what he was going to do in a clear manner. He told you how he was going to reform Washington in very specific terms.

Problem was that Perot didn’t decide to run until Pat Buchanan got about 38% against 41 in New Hampshire and showed that the incumbent president was vulnerable.
Remember, 41 was seen as invincible going into that race despite the recession because he had record approval ratings in 1991 during the run up to election year.
It was to the point where SNL and others were doing skits about Dems desperately not wanting to get drafted by the party to be a sacrificial lamb.
