What's the city nearest to you, and how does it compare and contrast from 30-40 years ago?

That would be Baton Rouge for me. It is a complete shithole compared to 30 years ago. I went to LSU in the 80’s and BR is almost unrecognizable compared to what it was back then.

I wasn’t arguing against you. Just sharing anecdotal data.

guess so many things are political and tribal now, right down to people's opinion of cities.

Horseshyte.

Ask the victims of violent crime if it was a political experience.

Ask the families impacted by fentanyl deaths if it was a political experience.

Ask the victims of mass shootings if they enjoyed their political experience.

All four of those are places that are objectively worse than they were even pre Covid comparing the same areas then vs now.

I'll give you San Franciso and LA for sure. Good call on those. They probably fall in the 5 percent that aren't nicer and safer than they were 30 or 40 years ago.

it is objectively a shithole overall in the city.

it depends on what you mean by "in the city" - I live in the city and it's not a shithole here. Inner downtown around the Georgia State area? You might be right.

The early 90s was still the crack-cocaine era, and the crack-cocaine era was the most dangerous and sketchiest era there was. Data typically works better than fuzzy anecdotes from 30 years ago...

I’m speaking from the 70s and 80s. Sure there was drugs. Someone has already pointed out murder rates are down and have been but everything else has gone up. None of our stuff ever got broken into back then. That would not be the case for white family today living in the 9th ward. And there’d be many more problems on top of it. My sister (no pics) had to move out in 2014 because of so many problems in same neighborhood we grew up in.

NOLA 100% has more dangerous areas than 30 years ago.

It was nice after Katrina for a while, but that didn't last long.

No, it’s based on the fact that every crime other than murder has increased drastically

From 30-40 years ago? FBI data says otherwise.

Minneapolis and St. Paul are worse.

Milwaukee is 5X worse than it was in the 80s and 90s if we’re just using murder rate.

1990 was the high from 1965 to 1990 and it was under 5/100,000.

Last year, Milwaukee’s murder rate was 35/100,000.

If you factor in that we do a much better job of saving the lives of shooting victims now than we did in 1990, the violence rate is probably a factor higher.

People like you will say this while young black kids get slaughtered in their neighborhoods. Those lives don’t matter to leftist like you as long as you get to sip your champagne in your safe spaces
