Why do I need to subsidize someone else's new vehicle purchase again?

Because Trump is a populist.

The economy is fine, people are just over with paying $70,000 for an f150 that’ll have 12 recalls the first year and won’t last 7-8 years before it’s ready for the scrap pile.

No. Why subsidize the unionized labor plants of GM/Ford over the expense of Hyundai, Toyota, etc., that employ workers in Georgia, Alabama, Texas, etc? And is Fiat Chrysler even an American company?

But the economy is failing!!!…
US car manufacturers are doing so great they need a subsidy (in addition to the tariffs). Who's tired of winning?

I remember when the auto makers helped out the American people and took all of the used cars off of the market.

Yup

He's talking about letting the Chinese set up plants here as well. He knows manufacturing jobs are not doing well.

Its just going to inflate prices. Happens every time In the industry. If prices remained stagnant it would be a boon tho

Just in, car prices raised $6-8k across the board

This, and it will add to the deficit.

I get the purpose, but it’s not a good idea. Lower regulations so cars can be made cheaper and manufacturers can make cars in demand without needing token models like EVs and compact cars that nobody wants in order to meet fuel standards. Sales of cars people want subsidize those models that dont sell. Eliminate those, and cost of cars we want can decrease

More irony for those of you that view things through the lens of MAGA vs Marxism. Trump’s idea sounds like government tinkering with the private economy.

Is this on top of also writing off new car interest cost from tax liability?

You’ll need to save that $10k for new main bearings, rod bearings, lifters, camshafts, valve bodies, and clutch packs.

Would not apply for individuals making more than $100,000 or couples making more than $200,000

Welfare redistribution of wealth to the poors. Shameful.

Not exactly.

It's an attempt to be able to say, "See, 'muh tariffs worked! People bought more American cars this year!"
