I guess this is a win for you, congrats?

I have no problem with this. $12M wasn't worth the political capital.
I don't think the government should be giving it money, but at least the Special Olympics is a cause worth funding. I care more about money going to Planned Parenthood than I do about this.

Trump caves on Special Olympics

That money would have gone towards charter schools.
Anyone upset about that is saying it's more important for the challenged to feel better about themselves than it is to try to improve public education.

Once again, I agree with POTUS! For pity's sake, how many millions were wasted on that fraud in Chicago?!?! Let these young people have the opportunity to compete and be in the spotlight for a little while. A little joy with a tiny price tag, comparatively speaking!

Maybe you can win a medal this year.

And yet, Trump was forced by such a small issue to reverse his administration's course. We need a stronger strong man than this.
It was a smart decision to cut the funds. They collect $100+ million each year from donations, only spend around $10 million on the actual kids and events. They mismanaged their finances last year so bad they had to cancel the Oregon Special Olympics. Trump or Devos deciding not to throw money away is not a bad move.
The media needed to change the topic from no collusion so they jumped all over it and spread it on every network and outlet as if Trump was killing babies.
Trump waves his magic wand and the sky screamers lose their distraction.
I would bet 99.9% of the people trying to make this an issue have never given $1 to Special Olympics

Among charities the Special Olympics is like PETA. All the money goes to the executives who run it. Wounded Warriors is also one of the bottom rated in this category.

Good news for you----you'll get to perform.

He’s so mad about Russia that he’s melting over the Special Olympics.

Devos is the weakest Cabinet member I have ever seen. trump needs to tie that hitch to the tracks and get rid of her.

IllegalPete has done the research too I see. This whole fiasco is so incredibly frustrating. Those cuts we're 100% justifiable. Taking it to zero was somewhat of a misstep by this administration though, as the visuals here are are too easily manipulated in Democrats favor. They should have weaned them over time.
The coverage here is so typical though. Republicans never had a chance once Dems went all in on it. There was no way they were going to be able to get out their argument. The MSM sure as hell wasn't going to go against the 'Trump hates handicapped kids' narrative being spewed by Dems.

Maybe he thought it was special fundraising for the Democrat Party?

Special Olympics was never going to be defunded. It's odd that DeVos even proposed the cut. This isn't much of an issue, frankly.

Even an a-hole can occasionally do the right thing. I’m not going to criticize him for listening
to the voice of reason. It’s such a refreshing change of pace.

Name one thing he hasn’t been reasonable with.

So why aren't we cutting $18 million checks to every non-profit then? If one is good, all of them would be great, right? We should all love for the government to solicit donations through taxation.
