NH is a continuous disappointment on the National Level.

Gorgeous state, beautiful small towns. The rural parts of Maine are conservative as could be. Get down to the coast and near Portland and it's woke land.

I went to Maine and NH this last fall.
Trans and BLM flags everywhere (I’m sure there were gay people) but absolutely 0 black people around. Portland had a few but that was it.
For fun we looked at the costs of houses around Portland, Portsmouth, Manchester, and Cape Elizabeth.
Everything is ungodly expensive. Like only obtainable by generational wealth expensive, especially in Cape Elizabeth.
No wonder they’re all socialist. They’re working in a community and serving rich people that own things they could never dream of.
Also, urban crime , immigration, failing schools, and crumbling infrastructure doesn’t touch them.
So people that do have to be around those things and decry it seem heartless to bleeding hearts.

Heavy Nordic population (traditionally) and they are very socialist by nature of their heritage. Small village, protectionist attitude and orientation.
An idea that falls apart at scale and with the introduction of outsiders.

From the little time I've spent there, they're stuck in the 60's. They still think democrats represent the counter culture. They haven't caught up politically.
I bet if you polled a lot of them you'd find that they're classical liberals instead of woke liberals, and are more closely aligned with libertarians than they think.
Yep, been my experience as well. Met up with a few Vermont folks on the trail, pretty nice people, more old school lib than anything. Yet, they latch on to the national mainstream media and NPR for information. Of course the message on those outlets are 24/7 Orange man is BAD.

True. yet also look at that state map for the 2020 election. Lots and lots of red outside the Twin Cities and Duluth. The rural areas just don't quite have the numbers to overcome the urban vote. It's not unlike Washington or Oregon.

They have a large environmental constituency

Both are very poor states with a lot of people on welfare of various kinds.
Once drove down the western side of Maine after a camping trip to Moosehead Lake. The back country showed a lot of signs of poverty with lawns overgrown, cars abandoned in the yard, houses unpainted and other signs of neglect. Then things gradually started looking better the center of which was a very old fish canning plant that was still in business and providing employment.

They want to keep black people out. That’s the primary motivator.

Nearly 60% of the state lives in the greater Minnesota/St Paul area.

Especially in the winter.

This, the people I've know from Maine and the experiences I've had when I go visit are overwhelming anything but left. Massachusetts is the nail in the heart of new England and I can't be convinced otherwise.

I’ve been to both states. Didn’t like either of them. Seemed like every church up there had a homo flag flying on it. It was very bizarre.

Because they have little to no “culture” issues. They have no idea what life is like outside of their bubbles.
Posted on 10/22/24 at 6:57 pm to Clemsontigers02
We should ship some of New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport up to them and maybe they’ll have a change of heart.
