How about engineers, accountants, scientists, mathematicians, lawyers, doctors, finance professionals, economists, etc. ? All can afford houses in today's market. Don’t get bs degrees, rather learn a trade.
Most of my friends are engineers, accountants, scientist types and they can’t afford homes either. All of those guys make $100-150k but buying a $500k starter home is still out of reach. You must live in BFE where you can get 2500 square foot for $300k

It’s all just a mirage created by the media! Things are great!

inflation is a genie you cant put back in the bottle without a depression. Curbing inflation is helping with affordability. but prices are not going to go back down, best you can do is prevent them from continuing to rise at the high rates we saw with Biden

For some things, yes, but for stuff like houses? Yeah they can go down

The definition of “normal” has changed. Younger people definitely have a definition of “normal” that is much higher than it used to be.
I see your other posts. 500K is not a starter home. My point is proven.

Kroger stopped selling 4 fresh Bolla rolls for $1. Now, it's 3 for $1. That's 25% inflation!

$500k is absolutely a starter home in DFW. Also, “young” is relative. We aren’t talking about 23 year old college grads. We are talking about early-mid 30s professionals who can’t afford to buy 2500 sqft 40 year old homes in a neighborhood with decent schools. This is the reality

True, I live in BFE and sold my 3400 square foot home built in 2005 with four acres for $325k in 2021.

Wow. That is definitely a bargain

Not true. I’m older Gen X, but I see my two sons, who both make substantially more than I, struggling to make ends meet.

15 years ago, I was considered “poor”. I was fat drinking multiple sodas per day, eating name brand deli meats, I would cook burgers for myself, had lots of snacks, drank beers from microbreweries.
Today, I am one of my best-off friends. I buy the cheapest deli meat available and only when on sale, beef is completely unaffordable, no snack foods or sodas, only cheep beer on the few occasions I can afford to indulge. I lost 50 lbs over the last 4 years, but the real reason is that I had to continually cut back on my grocery purchases as various products became unaffordable. I haven’t bought chicken in nearly 2 months because it’s too high…CHICKEN!
The grocery store tacos that were $2 in 2020 are $4 now.
The mcdouble that was $1 in 2019 is now $4 today. The cheapest burger on the menu at Sonic is over $6, when it used to be $2. Don’t piss on my head and tell me it’s raining.
Wages aren’t growing anywhere close to making up for how rapidly prices have risen on food, housing, insurance, healthcare, and utilities. And that’s if you still have a job. So many, myself included, have lost jobs over the last year and are struggling to find anyone hiring.
I would have been homeless months ago if not for family helping out, and being locked into a bargain mortgage.

They will never drop to pre pandemic levels and the America First morons complain about the only President who has attempted to do something about yet complain as if a President Harris wouldn’t have exasperated it immensely. They are driving a wedge over non important issues like Epstein and H1B visas all under the guise of true conservatism. They will blame Trump in 26’ if Democrats retake the House and they will trot out Desantis who will lose. It’s what Republicans do

Grocery store prices are definitely up, but it’s the cost of insurance, rent, car mechanics, restaurants, kids softball equipment, etc. that’s the stuff is pinching people

Are you trying to say groceries aren’t crazy expensive? Everything is astronomically higher than it was in 2019 before COVID. Trump sent out a shite load of money to businesses (PPP) that didn’t even need it. It d course they took it and rightfully so but we once again devalued the dollar and increased inflation. Then Biden’s dumbass got elected and of course in Democrat fashion gave out a bunch of free shite and here we are. Wages can’t keep up with the cost increases. Everything is anywhere from 30% to 100% more expensive than 2019.
