LA for two days

I’ll be in LA for the LSU game in September.
I’ll be getting in late Friday and leaving early Monday, so that leaves me Saturday and Sunday to see all the sights, and of course my Saturday from 3:30pm to 10:30pm will be taken up the game.
Sunday I will have all day to see the sights.
What are some recommendations?
Some places I would like to see include:
Griffith Park
Santa Monica Pier
The PCH
Randy’s Donuts
The Hollywood Sign
Any other recommendations would be appreciated.

We did the LA/Hollywood tour through this company and we ended up seeing even more locations than what is on the itinerary. Would highly recommend them

The Getty. The museum is amazing but the buildings, grounds and view are stellar. And it's free, except parking.

I’d leave out Santa Monica pier if you become pressed for time. Yes it’s a bit iconic but it’s rundown & old. The beach itself was gross.
I enjoyed the handprints/footprints in front the Chinese Theater and walking around the Dolby theater. Other than that, Los Angeles is a bit of a shite hole. I went thinking it was this grandiose place and was let down.

I go out to LA/San Diego and train BJJ since this is kinda the mecca. I stopped hitting up that area when the homeless took over. It looks like a tent city now. It is actually sad how run down it is now, but then again, it is Cali. Hollywood would be cool to visit if you have never been there.

I’m staying in downtown, so I should be close to a lot of good sites before I make my way to the RB.

I’d do Griffith Park personally. Take in a beautiful view from way up. The one sight I haven’t done yet.
The pier is so-so.
I visited the La Brea tar pits and also went to Paramount Pictures studio for the tour. I enjoyed both.
Can’t go wrong with a bus tour. You take in a lot.
The Getty can consume an entire day in itself.

If staying downtown I like to get breakfast at the original pantry cafe. It's a throwback. Cashonly so have that. The griddle cafe in hollywood is legit breakfast too.

It's been since 2009 since I did it, but I really enjoyed the Warner Brothers studios tour. At the time, it was generally considered superior to the Paramount tour, but I don't know if that's still true

The Griffith is awesome! The sign is in Griffith park, but it's a bit of a hike.
It's pretty up the PCH, but it's a lot of houses you can't see, businesses, etc. You'd need a car and need to drive a ways.
As tours go, we enjoyed Warner Bros.

It is unreal all the prehistoric animals they’ve pulled out of those pits. Big critters too. Massive cats. It’s fills a huge museum situated on the property!

Just FYI PCH is just called PCH not The PCH. The freeways get a "the" e.g. the 405, the 22, the 605.
I do recommend Santa Monica. The homelessness is mostly confined to Venice. As others have mentioned the Getty Museum is a top attraction but would take an entire day. The Getty Villa, however could be combined with Santa Monica in a day

If you can fit it in, take the Warner Bros tour. Was a surprising highlight of our trip out there a few years back. Its only about 15 min from the Rose Bowl and tours are every half hour starting at 9am.

The Hollywood sign looks just like it does on TV or in pictures btw. I don't get the attraction but to each his own.

I heard it’s a nice hike though? Isn’t it? Never been

That's true. The actual sign itself looks just like letters on a hill. It's not that impressive as far as landmarks go
Eta I guess from a tourist perspective I could see getting like a 5 second little rush and thinking oh wow I'm in Hollywood but after that it's just like ok well we saw the Hollywood sign

Cool. I’m going to the game as well. Other than Gameday, we have two full days before we head to Napa.
So far we are looking at WB Studio tour, Griffin Park, Chinatown, USS Iowa and a bike tour.
I’m really excited about the bike tour. The various neighborhoods in LA always fascinated me for some reason. It’s a 6 hour tour approximately 30 miles. If anyone has done something like this before, feedback appreciated.
The wife is planning the nightlife. Restaurants and drinks. I can’t find a concert I’m interested in yet. Staying in Santa Monica

If you like seafood I highly recommend Water Grill. There is a location in Santa Monica. It is my favorite restaurant.
