So it was worth a shot. How much can they screw up??? Let me tell you...

-One flight per day
-Two flights per week
-no phone number
-We have "jobs" and can't wait around for them to reschedule or rebook us on another day.

So we had to drive five hours one-way in a rental to Atlanta and hop an expensive last-minute Delta flight. They will not pay us for the Delta flight or one way rental. They do not even have a phone where I can discuss this with them.

There will be no "fool me twice" situation and I suggest you do not get fooled once by these con artists.

Breeze is the new airline founded by David Neeleman. He was the founder of Jet Blue, Azul, and Morris Air, which was bought by Southwest where he was a hotshot for some years.

They specialize in direct flights between cities that dont' already have direct flights.

Long story short, this is not a situation where someone "didn't know", you have a C-suite alumni and founder of some of the biggest airlines in the world. There is no excuse for the crap they put us through.

I understand that s*** happens but man, pay for my rebook on Delta or a rental car and ANSWER THE DARN PHONE.

They got me to and from Charleston, SC with no problem last August but from what I’ve read and heard lately, I won’t fly them again until they get more firmly established.

Sorry for your inconvenience.

I mean they are upfront about this.

I read about this before they launched and there is nothing worse than 3 day turnaround email communication. Useless.

Figured they had chat. Do they? If no chat yikes.

Did the flight get cancelled? What lead to this? Curious as I’ve flown 4 times and had no issues but always have known it was a small risk with the lack of rebooking if a flight is cancelled.

The one flight a day/two a week is a risk you run on airlines like Breeze, Spirit, Frontier, etc. If you're gonna book flights on an airline like this use a credit card with trip delay protection in the event of IRROPS.

They do have chat, but response was slow. When it's Sunday afternoon and you're staring down the barrel of being stranded, I dont' want to wait, I want to get something figured out so I can get home for work in the AM. Chat basically told me (well after I booked Delta on my own) that I could have a refund or maybe they would pitch in on the hotel for the next night. What I really wanted them to do was cover the two $450 Delta flights CHS-MSY. Instead I booked (2) much cheaper flights from ATL and cannonball drove there to make said flights. It wasnt' fun.

We booked through Kayak which wasn't nearly as obvious about stuff like lack of frequent flights or phones.

I travel almost every week for work and kayak usually works fine.

I've never flown Breeze, but is it common practice for an airline to reimburse travel on another airline? Especially from a different departing airline? I would expect a refund, but I didn't think reimbursing other travel is standard practice. Also, most airlines have a couple hour wait time at a minimum right now..it's not like you are picking up and talking to someone asap.

Yeah, no low-cost carrier is going to pay to put you on another airline. Sorry, but that's just ridiculous. That's part of how low-cost airlines work.

And Kayak is just a portal. They don't do anything except enable you to buy.

You are right, it's not common practice, but it's also common practice to have more than one flight per day or two per week. If Delta cancels flight X, they put me on flight Y. They also have a phone and respond to texts very fast. In years of traveling I've only been delayed overnight once and that was due to a storm.

Things happen. It's how you respond.

I get what you are saying, and I'm sorry you had a travel mishap, but that's the risk you take with a budget/smaller airline.

I'm not trying to preach, but it is neither Kayak nor Breeze's responsibility to inform you of travel contingency. This is a main reason I have not flown them, Spirit, or Frontier.

I get you are annoyed. It is your right to never fly with them again. At the same time, your expectations for their obligation is a bit out of touch. They do not claim to be Delta nor market themselves that way. You are comparing apples and oranges

but you booked an airline with one flight a day and two per week LOL. If you want flight options other than that...you have to book another airline

This was my immediate first question too

I had no idea this airline existed and I fly very regularly (2 - 3 times per month).

If this is truly the case and you don't understand how budget airlines like Allegiant, Frontier, Spirit, and Breeze work then you are either incredibly ignorant or lying.

Its WELL known on all of those they have limited flights, if you have a delay it could be DAYS.

FWIW, Southwest is not much different at a lot of their locations. They have many destinations its 1 flight a day.

I feel for your bad travel experience, but I'd never book them on a flight you HAD to have or have some back up plans which may include cancelling.

It's part of the reason I avoid LCC's alltogether. I've had major IRROPS on AA, DL and UA and all of them have gotten me home with minor inconveniences, sometimes even on other airlines.

Breeze Air started ops during a horrible, horrible time in the industry, which continues to remain horrible. It offers a good product but due to lack of demand, it is relegated to scheduling their operations to a small percentage of leisure travelers. It won't make money until business travel makes a strong return, and it may not anytime soon. They are in a race against time with new A220's coming in.

They are obviously well capitalized but will probably run out of financing before the industry outlook improves.

That doesn't make a lick of sense. Business travelers aren't flying on Breeze. It's made to cater to leisure travelers, as are all LCCs.
