I have a close friend on Grove Collective Board and also have some close friends that run in high government circles in Louisiana (lawyers and lobbyists - long story).
From what I was told the first 10 days after Kelly was fired was total chaos. When there were reports on here of candidates and the like, I had confirmation that was likely very untrue.
As things progressed, my contacts at OM seemed adamant that Lane was leveraging on for greater NIL commitments not for portal necessarily but for high school recruiting.
I knew Lane was genuinely willing to leave, but thought he’d stay when OM gave him what he wanted, which they did. That coupled with a potential playoff run made me so sure.

Go back and read what he exactly said and how it transpired. He posted again that there was smoke a few hours later, then it’s going to happen a few hours after that and then the boom dropped a couple hours after that.

Dude. This was the worst kept secret in all of college football.
He was pretty much hired before BK was ever fired. The only hold up was Ole Miss and how they would handle the post season play.
